Looks pretty bad really. There's a massive lack of variety in the environments here and some of them are still looking like corridors not to mention it simply isn't polished enough, the textures are lacking in a lot of those parts. 

It's really disappointing to see just such a small variety of environments in the game too, I expected more from Valhalla, possibly more snowy locations. Really thinking about cancelling my pre-order.

In there you can see detail is meant to be in place. The sky is different in each shot, the characters themseles develop by having new weapons/accessories. There is a great variety in times of day, from sunset to twilight, to morning to night (not just ohh Night rain and morning). The background of the locations give the sense of real breathing world.

In the XIII-2 video we have our usual beach, forest, city location. Yawn.

I think its a bit too early to say, we saw about 1.30 mins from a 100 hour game (i assume 100 hours). the problem in FF13 wasnt the sole fact the environments were linear. it was the lack of anything to do but fight the same 2 monsters 20 times as you traverse a straight line. here it looks like theres branching paths and maybe some mini-games (i've seen chocobos) or side quests in each environment.

its not going to be as large as something like Skyrim, FF12 or Xenoblade. but i think people should give it a chance, i doubt i'll get it, but for people who enjoyed FF13, i think it might have some improvements.

Why did you expect Final Fantasy XIII-2 enviroment to be similiar to something like Xenoblade?  Most of the game resources is scrap from the previous game. If you want a Final Fantasy game a wider range of variety I would probably wait for Final Fantasy Versus XIII instead of a game that had most likely been in development for less than 2 years.

You can't say "This is what RPG enviornment shoud look like".

Different games do things differently. If you get too hung up about things you liked being changed, you'll ruin your chance of liking the changes.

To me, the video showed loads of different enviornments,  and that nearly all of them looked quite great. Some looked a bit odd, but that might be because the shots were so brief. Overall, it looked absolutely lovely.

So much drama.

Okay, we get it, You think SE is garbage, Xenoblade is the best game evar and you dont like FF13-2. Do yourself a favor and stop mentioning it in your posts. There will be millions who will buy and enjoy the game, random internet posts bashing the game is not really going to change anyone's mind, considering that the game isn't even out yet.
