Forums - Website Topics - Customising profiles and game pages

It would be nice to have the option to add our gamertags for the various platforms in our profile in respective boxes. That way anyone that looks up our profile could find our online contacts for our games.

Also, it would look way better if the customize background features were limited more to exclude images and crazy colors.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

@ ioi

It would be nice, like MySpace to have a "Top" friends list, not all of your friends, since it changes everytime you refresh the page.

@ ioi, ok cool, it was definately a JPEG, I have also tired PNG, and tried resizing it and a few other things... from what I gathered from the "game database" thread it seems to be only IE users.

So it won't display the whole collection of games anymore? Or will the link still be there to view the whole collection? The only reason I check other members pages is to see what games people are getting.

But are you guys that interested about "customising" your page? Are they being used as myspace-style pages with lots of game pictures and stuff or should I head towards a more facebook-style neat collection of info and data that I can make look a lot nicer and layout how I want?
Personally I prefer neater but it does seem a little harsh to force that on people who want to customise. I reckon you should do what you want to do with the layout then if certain colour combinations don't work it's down to the individual to adjust their profile til it looks ok.

ioi, one feature I'd love to see is user rating!

Add two pictures below each poster one thumbs up and the other thumbs down (+1 and -1 respectively). The sum of that will be the popularity of the poster (obviously the poster cannot vote for himself); think of all the popularity contests you'll avoid!

Keep it as where you can customize your page with colors and backgrounds. Add a organize games feature. Allow video embedding on the profile page. As long as you're fixing things add an edit game name button to the edit game links.

+100000

It bugs me that the game collections in our profiles are organized by the order that we added them. All my games are all jumbled together, and it would be much nicer if they were organized first by system, then alphabetically. It would make the lists much easier to comprehend.

Edit:  Whoops, I didn't see the post at the top of this page.  Sounds good to me ioi.

As for customizability, I think that we should be allowed to customize our profiles somewhat, but I do agree that the old system involving backgrounds just wasn't working.  Maybe you could implement a banners system instead?  Allowing users to put a banner at the top of their profile similar to GameSpot.com?

The + and - for popularity idea is a good one and i would like to see that.
