I haven't used any myself, but I believe my boss uses Dragon Naturally Speaking.

*edit* of course that's not free like you were asking, but still if you decide you want to pay for one, that's an option.

I use windows speech recognition. It's terrible at first, but it promises to learn more words (and my way of speaking) the longer I use it. That promise may never be kept! I'll try Newcloud's suggestion.
