Forums - Gaming - Gamepro shutting down

source

"Popular gaming magazine GamePro has shut down its U.S. operations after 22 years of publications by its parent company IDG. GamePro's website, which has been online for about 13 years, will be converted to a gaming channel and incorporated into PCWorld on Dec. 5. Sources within the magazine say GamePro's employees, including its executives, received phone calls this morning with the news. The news comes as a relative surprise, as GamePro experienced its highest traffic ever last week. The company also released its first quarterly magazine earlier this month after deciding monthly print issues were too costly to maintain."

Now, all those out-of-place scoring make sense. They were desperate for hits.

Well I saw it like 50 times on twitter so why not 3 times here. I am just joking Galaki you could post. About dancing kittens over and over again and I would still stop by.

Please don't.

RiP Gamepro

Yeah, unfortunately, I need sleep, too. I guess Gamepro isn't popular enough to remain on page 1.

I was always a EGM man myself, but i dont like any of these gaming mags going under. This might not be the end they could come out of thise like EGM. Hell at least we got a notice this time

Well never went to there website or subscribed to there magazine so not a loss to me. And Im sure most of the gaming community will move on. Maybe more user's will come here.

Used to buy it all of the time as a kid. That's where I got the 64 lives code for the game, Bad Dudes! I think I started with issue #3 or something and kept reading up until the very beginning of this gen. I never felt it was the final word on gaming or anything (That was EGM!) but it was a good supplement when I needed my gaming fix.

Sad to see them go, even though I haven't read Gamepro in years. It's like losing Mad Magazine, Cracked Magazine, and EGM. You think something is forever and suddenly, it's gone.

Mad magazine went out of business? Wasn't aware. I had a subscription with them up to about a year ago that kept getting renewed for some reason (we weren't doing it, so we just took the freebies)

Now that one is sad to hear

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
