Frankfurt?? I don't even want to be buried there (even if Faxanadu thinks it's a good place to live ;). Hamburg, Munich, Cologne and Berlin are the best places to live in Germany imo - at least if you want to live in a city.

I'm surprised Hamburg didn't make it to the top 10 instead of Frankfurt or Düsseldorf and that Cologne didn't make it to the top 50 at all (but Stuttgart to top 30 - most of my relatives live there, which makes it one of the most boring places on planet earth by default).

I'm also surprised that no Scandinavian or (edit: I overlooked Copenhagen) Asian city made it to the top 10. Tokyo only at #46 due to what? Fukushima?

Auckland is a beautiful city, not surprised its #3. Congrats to Vienna, I would definitely love to visit there.

Cool to see a Canadian city top 5 but damn why is it Vancouver? The Canucks suck!

Meh, this list only includes big cities so it's missing many, many medium and small sized cities. For example, San Sebastian has the highest quality of life in Spain, but only Madrid and Barcelona appear.

That said, Vienna is an awesome city, would love to live there for a while.

Usually smaller magazines and newspaper get the smaller cities. recently a town next to me got safest place I think, but internationally it was probably number 4 thousand.

I don't actually know, but their income and average wages are quite lower (half of what we have in my region). Also unemployment is massive there. Other than that, I don't know how they measure living standards. They do have a lot of sun and nice arquitecture in places like Granada, Seville... apart from a nice night life, plenty of restaurants and bars, etc.

But TBH, I think it's just that only 1m+ cities (or the biggest city of each country) qualify.
