OT: I think 360 will get their first due to the fact, that in my opinion it's holiday boosts are better positioned since 2010 :)

The ps3, it's been closing the gap between it and the 360 very rapidly. It's rather obvious actually, the only issue is if the 360 does something to change that fact, but it wont because kinect is already out and a price drop probably unlikely.

listen gramps, no way in hell can ANYONE give you any SOLID reason why a 'prediction' of this nature will come true or not. I already explained the situation of the two consoles. Both selling well. Ps3 is catching up it won't catch up to 360 at this rate BEFORE 360 gets to 70 mil.

oh and also gramps I gotta say, since its YOUR thread, you should tell us what your answer is and your reasoning as well. you're just being rather vague and lazy here ..go on now..update the OP with your ingenious reasoning :)

i believe the 360 will, i forecast it to be #1 WW for 2012 i believe gta5, halo4, price cut, and something thats top secret atm will be the deciding factors

i doubt Ps3 will have that level of hardware next yr. unless Sony forecast another 15m units or more by 2012 yr. end. then the consoles should be about even in total hardware sold. or they could do it at the same time.

the only thing that will likely stop 360 from hitting 70m first is if PS3 pushes 62m units by 2011 yr.'s. end and continues pushing more hardware Jan.-Oct. if PS3 can get a 1m unit lead during those 10 months then it's likely PS3 will do it first or just miss it by a few thousand.

with that said i don't PS3 selling 70m before 360.

i agree with this, but heres something more in depth. right now the going prediction average for PS360 2011 yr. end are (not my personal predictions) PS3 62m and 360 63m. now that leaves 8m for PS3 and 7m for 360, and considering Sony normally does 8m before the holiday season starts it still seems about an even chance to me.

then again PS3 could be a few k to 500k from it while likely hitting 71 or 72m first. meh like i care.

The Xbox 360 has a very small lead over PS3 despite launching a year earlier.

Once the PS3 hits mass market price ($200) it will sell like hotcakes.

Xbox 360 has reached its peak in sales. PS3 sales have yet to peak.
