Forums - Sony - VITA PKG files extracted and decrypted, first steps to VITA hacking?

Was looking for steam gamer cards when I stumbled upon this

http://www.yourgamercards.net/index.php/news.html/_/news/vitapspnews/ps-vita-hacked-already-r1329

How is that possible?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

OP is totally misleading.

The Vita PKG files can be extracted and decripted now, nothign more. Encrpyting and running own code is a completely different matter. The same thing could be done on PS3's PKG files for years, while it was still unhacked.

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

If you noticed, I placed a "?" at the end of it and also directly from the link, you can see that they are the ones claiming it's "hacked". I'm just reading it and trying to see if it was true or not.

A question mark does not make the OP better, when you have such a sensationalist OP. I'm just trying to point out that it can be misunderstood by people.

A better headline would be something like: "VITA PKG files extraced and decrypted, first steps to VITA hacking?"

Thanks for clearing that up

I mean it hasn't even been released yet, has it?

But you assume I know anything about "hacking", I have no idea what any of that means. I just saw the post and brought it over here to get a confirmation. I was not trying to sensationalise or try to get attention.

Fair enough. I cleared that up with my post. My point was that it could be misinterpreted by the people. I myself clicked on the headline because I read "Vita already hacked?" and then clicked on it.

I guess our definition of "Sensationalizing" differs because for me, if the title had read "OMG, Vita Hacked Already!!!" that would be misleading. because it claims to be a factual statement whereas a question mark suggests there's a level of uncertainty.

I wouldn't pay much attention to this yet -- after all it assumes that PS Vita uses the same AES key as the PSP and uses this information to extracted the PKG files. Now i would question how exactly SKFU figured out what AES key PS Vita retail units use as he never claims to of had any access to PS Vita hardware or PS Vita PKG files...

Done, thanks for the suggestion (maybe not as sensationalist but definitely more accurate).
