wow just finished the game and super glad I didn't run into that bug. I did the volcano first because I also went to get the crystal ball for the fortune teller and then I went to the forest because I already saw that dragon. Really sucks for people that encounter this but now we know.

How can you do the volcano first anyway?

At first I didn't figure out that there was a key in the valley of the thunder dragon, so I decided to do the other two regions first. But nothing happened there, so I returned to the desert. Once I had completed the thunder dragon part, I went to the forest, but nothing happened. I went to the volcano and this time the stealth part triggered on arrival. Once I had done that, the final part in the forest would trigger.

Before I heard about this bug I didn't even know that you could do these parts in different orders. I thought it was just like with the dungeons before that had to be done in a predetermined order.

What I ussally did (being the noob I am) was first go to the fortune teller and ask where to go since I at first thought that you had to get the song in a certain order. I saw that the fortune teller wasn't at his place in the bazaar and then went to his house and got the sidequest to get the crystal from the volcano. I then got the song, crystal, and then went to get my fortune to be told that I could get the song sections in any order. (facepalmed myself then but now I take it back.) :)

Yea that key took me a couple minutes. At first I thought that I had to jump to it because I thought the bettle couldn't hold it.

Yeah, I freaked when I first heard about this last week, but fortunately I wasn't there yet and was able to easily avoid it.

At least it's not as bad as the Metroid: Other M bug: Even if you copy your game to another save file before encountering it, it won't save you; that glitch completely screws you into starting over.

Really? Is it even known what triggers the Other M bug? The trigger could be way ahead of encountering the bug, so that's why copying the save file doesn't help anymore (and MOM forces you to save almost all the time).

It has to do with backtracking in Sector 3 shortly after receiving the Ice Beam.  There's a room where a door opens after defeating enemies, and if you don't procede through it and instead backtrack, it makes another door shortly after that remain shut.

I wish I'd known this sooner, 'cause right now I my game stopped being read after going the sacred flame in Eldin. . .

I don't even understand how people get this bug. The game clearly directs you to go to the woods first. Why would you go out of order???

As superchunk i wonder how people can get it. afterall it seems logical for me to
Start where you know where you can find a dragon. in faron woods.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

Disregard my last post, I just found my Wii scratched my game, sorry for the false alarm. . .

The probability of running into this bug is higher than the Twilight Princesses bugs, but it's still miniscule. In TP, there are two occasions where saving and quitting can make your file unfinishable, but in both instances you will only realistically save and quit in case you really have to, because you have to do something utterly important. Everyone else will continue at these points, because you don't just quit in the middle of having started something.

It is lower surely?  In TP it is pretty easy to just save and turn off console when your on the main questline going where you need to, Eldin Bridge especially since it takes part after the ride from the village/fighting in the fields/dual on bridge which if I remember right have no breaks between them, so if anything comes up during that you're gonna save and turn off asap, hitting you with the bug.

I would agree it's probably a lower probability of me finding the bug by accident in Skyward... If all it takes if for you to save&quit after Eldin bridge dissapears (before entering the twilight realm) then it's certainly possible for me to be called away to the door or phone. Or else realise I need to finish up to make my train in time... something like that, and thus decide I might as well quit at that point.

In Skyward Sword, I don't remember being directed to any of the dragons first as Superchunk says, (I went to Lanayru first myself) but I don't think i even spoke to Goro before I went in (unless it includes the time you get the key from him much earlier) and I certainly had no reason to come back out after getting the song... And I am generally a very thorough explorer in these games.

the first two times I played the game it glitched. I had link hovering around above skyloft. None after that though.

Now, if you'll excuse me I have to go collect the notes that indicate where the pieces of the key are so that I can enter the realm and search for the light orbes that then lead the way to the songs, that open the path to the temple of backtrack. Good day to you all.
