I consider a portable console with region lock already crippled when it's just come out of the box, so this doesn't change much for me.

I believe if this happened to people on Sony or Microsoft system then the fans of said companies wouldn't mind that people trying to rip off a company deserve their system fried. I see no favoritism for Nintendo when dealing with piracy. Why would someone even say big corporate assholes are greedy when it is the fake R4 cards that are ruining the system. If they bought the system and actual legit games there is no issue. If you buy a product that isn't even licensed then you can't bitch at the console/hand held manufacturer. I just don't get your point and I don't see any favoritism towards Nintendo on this site. Sony fans outnumber Microsoft and Nintendo fans on this site.

Modding and/or pirating is done on your own risk. If you don't know what you're doing or don't understand the risks then don't do it.
In this case it's caused by bad cards so the only ones you can blame are the card manufacturer and yourself.
That is just sad...I know they are desperate Nintendo 3DS owners who want to download games to those R4's and not a spend a cent on games, but now your 3DS can be bricked....BEWARE of what you buy.....
