Forums - Sony - Isn't it the perfect time to buy Sony stock?

It's cheap now. It's falling quite heavily at the moment, but I think that they will rebound this quarter. I'm no investor but i just get the feeling that they can get out of this mess soon.

Current investment advise from market analysts has been sell for most of the year and with recent downgrades that isn't changing anytime soon. Sony still have a lot of pain ahead with restructuring to turn themselves around. They are a high costs, low margin company, something to avoid in times of economic uncertainty. They still potentially have some way to fall with a forward P/E that is way too high making it a pretty weak investment for some time to come.

Yeah but first, did you buy skyrim yet?

Call your bank, call a stock broker, go to a share dealing website... its easy.  But exercise extreme caution when buying shares in one company and one compnay only.  Diversification is key.

right cheers thanks, how much should i put into one company if you get me? If sony's shares are say €16 each, how many should I buy?

Buying Sony stock now could be worthwhile if you're prepared to hang on to them for a fair time.

*Buying Take-Two stock now, could also be worth a look for you, after release of GTA5, they will soar skyhigh for a bit ;)

Not sure what kind of impact selling off both Sony Pictures and Sony Ericsson will have on stock value.

Well half of that prediction has already been proved wrong as Sony bought the rest of Ericsson, they didnt get rid of it. But lets face it why would should we think Financial Analysts are anymore accurate that the ones in the games industry.

Personally, I wouldn't touch Sony stock ... They're a gigantic company that has many divisions and most of those divisions are backwards-looking, pooly managed, and losing money.

More often than not, when I see a company in a position like that they end up declaring bankruptcy within a few years; and only after the company is broken apart and restructured are the changes made to make the company truly successful again.

Right now you should simply leave the money in your bank account or purchase gold.
