That being said, some people here seem to think only of their own desires rather than looking at the big picture.

Be specific.

I understand this announcement doesn't conflict with what's been said (cater to all markets), but it's so upsetting that they even had a moment where they lapsed. Is it bad planning, bad vision? Whatever it is it needs to be fixed. We're not in 1992 anymore, the games industry has changed and is in need of constant attention. The bar has been raised by all manufacturers, so if one is intent on being #1, it needs to meet the new standard.

I don't disagree with your statement.

However, you are missing my point -- it appears to me that some posters only like "hardcore" games and think that doing otherwise is sacriledge.

It was addressing the comments much more than the OP.  If I go into more detail, I probably would say something that I would regret.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Seriously it's getting ridiculous. When will they realize that we want the whole spectrum? Casual, core, casual-core, core-casual... They need to stop splitting the userbase and just make games for everybody.

I thought they already did.  When I buy most of the Mario games they say E for everybody on the front.  When I look at just some of the 3DS line up next year with Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion 2, Animal Crossing, etc I see game for everybody.  I know some might want to jump on me for saying Animal Crossing but I have played all the Animal Crossing games and I can tell you there are some very hardcore people actually let me restate that casuals that play the game hardcore.  I even know of a few dedicated sites that are probably still up and running.  http://www.animalcrossingcommunity.com/ being the main one which I am a member of.  I even donated 12 dollars to them back when I was playing AC:WW a lot.  Top donor donated $530 to the site.  I've met plenty of young, middle aged, and older people online that play AC 2-3 hours a day sometimes or more.   Anyways, I'll stop with my AC rant.

Nintendo are in desperate need of expansion. They have billions they are sitting on. Can't they moneyhat and create new developers. It's really sad to see so little content coming to Nintendo platforms that they can't seem to completely satisfy anyone.

SethN there are tons of people who wouldn't touch LM2 with a 10-foot pole. It doesn't appeal to everybody. I understand that it's just one of many games, the collection of which appeals to everybody. Okay, even that would be acceptable. But your E argument doesn't work in that case, as I said for LM2.

If I want to be absolutely bullish about this, I would say rather that they need to work hard not only on making a library that appeals to everyone, but to find those individual games that also appeal to everyone, like certain classic disney movies (Lion King, Aladdin), or say Indiana Jones. Super Mario and Zelda on the Wii are the closest bet I've found to that. Granted, this point is much harder to achieve.

They need to flood their console with good content for everyone, like the PS3 did for its core audience, Nintendo needs to do that for its whole audience and its unreached audience as well. A huge feat, but they have the money.

lol cracked me up after I read the line where I had let me restate that... Apparently, I should have edited that paragraph right away but I was typing fast and moving to other threads.  Anyways, yes they do need to release more games such as F-Zero,Metroid or Metroid Prime, Pikmin, Sin & Punishment more often and develop new ones along those lines.  Pikmin 3 will probably be a launch title but I don't know what else.  They could use a little expansion for help with making existing  IPs and making new IPs.

Wxcept you're going to need more than just 'in 3D' to entice those same people. Brain Age ect were fresh and new and got everyone excited, the same in 3D? not so much.

Nintendo fans still act surprised? This has been the essence of the Wii since the beginning, with enough core titles to keep the fans with them.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Thread title made me imagine Reggie ambushing randomly chosen Nintendo gamers and kicking the shit outta them...

Stwike him, Centuwion. Stwike him vewy wuffly! (Pontius Pilate, "Life of Brian")
A fart without stink is like a sky without stars.
TGS, Third Grade Shooter: brand new genre invented by Kevin Butler exclusively for Natal WiiToo Kinect. PEW! PEW-PEW-PEW!

What hardcore games did the 3DS have? I'm seriously lost when it comes to Nintendo. Nintendo needs to create new IP's which appeal to todays core gamer (Who grew up with Nintendo) and keep the old IP's for the new gamer who is just entering gaming. Nintendo has always been the entry company and they need to stop this.

Finally! Now just release a new 3DS revision with a improved battery and I will buy one next year.
