Yes and we've had MS and Sony both talk about their next consoles this year and in 2011, but I don't think anyone would take that as confirmations for anything but the fact that they are being worked on. Simple thing is that the first time (that I can remember) the 360 was shown to the public was at E3 2005. Meaning that neXtBox and PS4 could very well not show up until E3 2013 and still launch that same year. |
No we have not....not from Sony. Actually, not from Microsoft either.....but especially not from Sony.
Sony's has only said and indicated nothing but no.
Somehow, when Sony says no....you hear yes.....somehow and apperently.
And the point, is that Microsoft, and every other console manufacturer acknowledged the existence and/or planning of their next console iteration at no less than 1 year from it's current launch. You believed Microsoft hadn't mentioned or acknowledged it until 2005 and that apparently was wrong. I've steered you towards the right way now. You're welcome. :)
Also, if Sony doesn't mention or acknowledge a PS4 next week at TGS, then all Hopes & Dreams should be put to rest, because it's pretty much over....basically.
Edit in......I really want to say that it's over now, but I want to be fair and a little bit kind to your last bit of Hopes & Dreams. So next week it is, Superchunk. lol

Probably, because they don't care if they take losses the first years (even though Sony should start to care about it).
But that's how they see the business.
Please excuse my bad English.

$50-100 losses is not a problem, Sony will only be in trouble if they get upto around $200 I think. Microsoft could afford to eat $200 if they really wanted to try and dominate Sony and maybe Nintendo.

Sorry but 200$ loss per console? This is absolutely absurd.
Nether Sony or Microsoft will do that. In fact they will watch that they make no loss at all. Both companies lost millions of dollars with the expensive PS360-Hardware.

Sony isn't what it was where they can do a loss leader to push out competitors.
Loss leader strategy is so deeply ingrained in Sony though, I would be surprise if they sell any new console at a profit.
So, they are pretty much stuck between Nintendo and Microsoft. PS4 will be between WiiU and Xbox3.
Loss leader does not guarantee anything, as proven by PS3. So, they still could beat Microsoft with games, games, and games.

I agree to a certain extent.
Microsoft can lose as much as they want, but in the case of Sony something around $50 (which should be easy to get back from games/peripherals) should be their max. $100 would be pushing things a bit too far.
