Forums - Gaming Discussion - Wii U vs PS4 vs Xbox One FULL SPECS (January 24, 2014)

Ok fair enough Superchunk. Anyway, lets just say for arguments sake they are correct. If so then indeed PS4 may be weakest. However i'm sure the final specs aren't near to being finalised. PS3 didn't get it's gpu added till very late on. I'm confident that if these rumours are true, Sony is just beta testing them for development sake and the finalised specs will be more powerful.

You're probably right. I'm just posting what out there so far. I'm pretty sure my OPs state I think PS4 will get better. But I don't think it will really matter all that much.

All three will be within a reasonable power of each other that 3rd party games will be on all of them with minor differences.

It will come down to:

Do I want Gears/Halo/Forza/Kinect/MS ... Uncharted/God/GT/Sony... Mario/Zelda/Metroid/Pokemon/Nintendo? (and if my other threads are right Android or iOS when you only really care about 3rd party)

So...
4-core AMD CPU
GPU around 1840 GFLOPS
2 GB RAM, could be 4 GB

Sounds reasonable. That would put Orbis more or less on par with Durango (less RAM but more powerful GPU) according to what some are saying.

THat article is pointing to a chip that isn't even in production yet. There is no way Sony will put a literally brand new design ($600+ APU) into the PS4. Its just not going to happen.

They did it with the CELL (hell they practically had it designed the entire architecture for the PS3) and more recently with the Vita which was the first SGX543MP4. Also Steamroller is due early 2013 so given a late 2013 or early 2014 release date it won't exactly be brand new. Aditionally 4 cores will be at the low end of the Steamroller APU line, plus even today you can get a quad core APU for $120US where are you getting $600 from?

XDR2 hasn't even been licenced for manufacturing yet you used a rumour that listed it.

There are plenty of reasons to doubt the rumour you don't have to make shit up...

Also why havn't you updated bassed on the latest Wii U rumours?

gotta keep this thread tagged!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.

Updated Orbis specs?

AMD x86 Quad Core at 3.2 GHz
ATI r10xx (3rd generation) GFLOPS at 800 MHz and 1843 - Codename "Tahiti"
Unified 2GB of memory (still uncertain, this can be 4GB)

Accordng to Zarx, the "GPU is basically a Radeon HD 7850."

And I think there have been some more Wii U rumours or even announcements about specs.

Which I basically said because of the HD 7XX0 series and the GFLOPS numbers which is pretty close to what the HD 7850 is listed at (1761 GFLOPS).

Coolio

Hopefully Superchunk updates Orbis and Wii U, I really like this thread.

Also on Orbis:
320GB + HDD
16GB Flash Memory

No APUs are priced at $600+. Even the best APU chips are designed for mainstream and the lower end of the performance sector. The design is also just an update of the existing Bulldozer architecture rather than a complete overhaul.

The article also states 3.2GHz which is very conservative for a current AMD chip. The soon to be released top of the line APU (A10 5800K) is clocked at 3.8GHz. If anything, it almost seems too conservative as they're going for a low clock speed quad core which is only capable of 1 thread per core when the rumours of the WiiU and NeXtBox suggest Power7 CPUs capable of 4 threads per core.

It Will not be 720>WiiU>PS4 . Why would the PS4 be the weakest when they are launching a year later (likely) and are gonna be more expensive than WiiU? That just makes no sense whatsoever.

Think of it this way, maybe Sony will release a console on par with the highest graphical console out at the time and sell it at a reasonable price, instead of launching it early at a high price, makes sense since they can easily ride the PS3 for a couple years. Just because they release later doesn't mean they will want to up the processors as much as possible.
