I watched an episode of Gametrailers Invisible walls and Shane was talking about what he didn't like about the new Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword.  He said that there were changes in the formula but not enough for him. Some of the things he complained about were staples in the Zelda formula. I immedately recalled that he said he LOVED twilight princess and he considered it game of the year back in 2006.

Then he said my gaming tastes have changed in the last five years. So I began to think about my own gaming tastes. During the last generation I loved Halo 1 and 2 and just about any other console fps that was released. I'd have my friends over almost every weekend to play some fps or fpa if you count Metroid prime 2. But I gotta say that the only fps I bought this gen was Halo 3 and Reach and that was more of because of my cousins wanting to play them. I never even finished half of the Halo 3 campaign and barely touched the multiplayer before handing it off to my cousins.I haven't touched a fps since.

So is there any genre or game series that you used to love last gen but don't care for now? And the game series can't have made a radical departure like what Banjo and kazooie did but the core gamplay is intact but you just don't want to play that style of games anymore.

Likely shane has fallen prey to the peer pressure of his brethren telling him to hate Nintendo games for the past 5 years.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Yes, my taste in games has changed quite a bit since the beginning of the generation.

But I guess that could be attributed to me being nine at the time.

Yes. I played games mainly on Sony consoles. I had a NES, GB, GBA and a GC, but my favorites systems of all time were the ps1 and ps2.

Then I bought a DS lite and my world changed. I love it to death, and now it is my favorite gaming system ever. The DS made me love creativity over power in videogames. Got a Wii and I am in love with it too. To be able to play DKCR, NSMB, Mario galaxy 1 and 2 is priceless for me. I like my PS3, but I liked the PS1/PS2 much, much more.

not really, i still love fps and strategy games more than anything else

"They will know heghan belongs to the helghast"

"England expects that everyman will do his duty"

"we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender"

Slightly; over the past 7-8 years ive grown to like the PS brand quite a bit. I ended up buying a ps2. Never the less, I Still retain the loyalty to Nintendo; despite just recently getting an 360 (through-"get an xbox 360 free when you get a pc). I've been having a blast playing Gears of War. Now that I've beaten it I gotta get the other two.

No, but I just refuse to play more unchallenging games.

Please tell me that guy is not the one who is reviewing Zelda.

Anyway, I am far more critical than before, I guess that is it.

At the dawn of the generation I was what one might call 'casual', I played regularly but didn't know a lot about games or the industry. Probably about 80% of my game collection was 3 series: Mario, Pokemon and Zelda. Now I'm a huge JRPG fan, with a varied library of games spanning various platforms, historical and present. I consider myself quite knowledgeable about the gaming industry and games in general.

My preferred genre have pretty much stayed the same: I like JRPGs (although before I had only played Pokemon), Action-Adventure, Strategy and Platformers.

glitching will keep me from online play with FPS, and unless its a sifi/futuristic shooter then i won't play or buy it with the only exception being rainbow6
