haha people in denial......
For me those gears 3 numbers are great, specially when you look at the competition.
My point was, that there were predictions made in this site by a huge amount of people that this game would take a huge step forward when it comes to sales just because it sold +1M FW then gears 2 (and pre-order numbers), and I will not even mention actual numbers posted, because I know if the person was me, I would be embarrassed.
Uncharted 2 (I am not mentioning this game to troll, or to make a point in comparing game quality), sold 46k, in his 5th week in NA, that ended in 14th of November of 2009, when the PS3 was selling 126k a week.
Once again, if you think that selling 46k, when your console dominates the region (with almost 34M consoles sold and selling 150k units), in your 6th week, is a great number (for a game that supposedly will sell over 9000M), then go ahead, I am talking about those numbers because those are real numbers, I am sorry if I don´t guess the HUGEEEEEE numbers gears 3 will put up in November/December.
And look, I am also prepared to see people say that Uncharted 3 will sell 10M because it had a 100% increase first week, so my point is not about the game itself, it´s about the hype, and people getting carried away by FW numbers, and not contextualizing numbers. Gears 3 had a 1M increase over gears 2, because, it was a great game, but most importantly, it was the first BIG game, and 360 gamers were impatiently waiting for a quality game.
Of course these Gears 3 numbers will be even more impressive when you consider the competition it had, but still, those predictions, and the huge bandwagon this game had when predicting sales numbers was uncalled for and the only reason for it will be the fact that sales are not made in a vacuum, there is competition, timing, price, etc, etc..
