That allows you to play all DS games.
Would you buy the WiiU just for that? All the pixelated DS games on your giant TV screen?

Erm, DS slot on the controller would be better. I'd buy into that idea.

THIS!! And the DS game could be entirely playable on the controller with both the top and the bottom screen displayed on the controller OR the top screen on TV and the bottom screen on the controller!! It's perfect!!
It'd be as likely as how I wanted a UMD slot for PS3 =(
....and pixelated isnt bad as im currently playing the original Mario on NES on my 60" LED tv lol
That would be so smart and welcome... that I doubt they will do it. Unfortunately.
But hey, Iwata said that they will reveal the final version of WiiU next E3 so there's still hope.
Please excuse my bad English.

Galaki just needs to reword the thread title to DS slot in Wii U controller. Then after putting DS Wii U in Google news search you will see this thread at the top of Google news. Actually... it shows up now on top of Google news by putting DS Wii U into the search. It would be funny to reword the title though and trick people that search Google news.

I guess there would be two possible ways of getting it to work:
1) The Wii U tablet has the necessary architecture to run DS and or 3DS games all by itself
+ no lag + Console can be used at the same time -
- tab will cost a lot
2) The reader in the tablet streams the data to the console which processes it (probably a virtual machine) and streams it back to the tablet
+ Only added cost to the controller will be the card slot + It would just be friggin awesome
- Some lag (I suppose) - Playing Mario 3DS in your bedroom means no-one can play Skyward Sword HD in the living room
It would be cool if there was a seperate version of the controller that retailed for say $40 more that had this function. All in all, I think option (2) is entirely possible and an enticing idea to boot. I guess it'll never happen then :/
