Forums - Nintendo - Iwata Meeting: New Pokemon next spring?, Wii U final version next E3

What interests me is how they will eventually allow you do download the purchase the software from your PC. In order to do that, and then download it to your 3DS, you'd need to have some sort of account tying the purchase to your system. Better online service in the works?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

So it's going to end up being a holiday 2012 thing then. Damn it all. Right after i graduate college and when i'll least be able to afford any sort of new console, probably in all my life

:/

Probably holidays 2012, but there is always the (slim) chance that Nintendo has decided to adopt the Apple-styled release schedule; and by that I mean, releasing soon after E3 to maximize the benefit of the conference.

For several years I have wondered why console manufacturers haven't tried this ... Essentially, keep as much a secret until E3 that you can and have a massive show and release 4 to 6 weeks later. It would be difficult to pull off, but it has the potential to allow a manufacturer to maximize the benefit they get from certain press. Basically, while people are still excited by what they saw at E3 you could be releasing more and more details about the system and its line-up allowing you to dominate the news cycle leading up to your system's release, if you have a good launch you would have lots of news of your system's popularity heading into the holiday season, and if you could follow this up with a relatively strong holiday line-up for a launch system you could clean up in the holiday season (provided you have the supply of systems).

Nintendo must have been throwing a lot of money at the online features. It's been getting updates quite often.

I wonder if the downloadable content for games will be stored on the gamecarts themselves. Anyone got any info?

Let's go with common sense. It'll be downloaded to SD card.

Game cards are mostly ROM (read-only) with a tiny bit of space (re-writeable) for game saves.

It does not make logical sense. How are you going to plan how much space a future dlc will take?

You're also going to limit the number of dlc. Let's say you planned for 2 dlc but ended up wanted more as things.

What about those that ended up not buying dlc. That's a lot of wasted space.

It'll still be cool though (on the consumer side)
