I honestly think this is a better example of the kind of crap that passes off as news on some sites more so than this being an unexpected or crazy fan reaction. Crazy sure, but unexpected? HA! Fans of games on anonymous forums are like that, happens for tons of games. Just happened more so for this one because it's popular and the last iteration got crazy high scores so there were expectations set. It's the same situation as that 8.8 for Zelda a few years back.

I'm sure that all of those comments are retarded, but I'm also sure that they are all totally expected. Anyone who has been reviewing for a while should expect this kind of thing. This can't honestly be the first time they've gotten backlash for a review score can it?

I don't see any ND employees doing that...and David Jaffe, who's usually a hot-headed person, actually denounced the people who were complaining.

It's not a coincidence. Nintendo and Sony fans are generally way too involved into their fandom from what I've experienced this far. Then again I haven't seen much of it on VGChartz lately so that's a good thing. David Jeffe said it well himself:

I'm done buying what a company wants me to buy (I was done a few years ago actually). I just buy good games wherever they are, period. The whole "I like this game because it's on my favorite company's platform" is really just dumb. Lots of games/movies like Uncharted came out years ago like Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones. Tomb Raider has nobody ever complaining so if something like this happened, it just seems because it's a Sony exclusive all of a sudden it becomes part of some untoucheable cloud with some people. It's insane.

And no, we don't remember this shit happening for Gears of war, and your upset attitude also proves the matter a bit. Instead shouldn't you be facepalming at all the retarded comments scooped up from that pile of tard?

Er...yes we did. A lot of people complained about gears of war 3 getting 8 at eurogamer. Go check out their own review.

I am not upset btw. I 100% expected people to backlash over at eurogamer because of what happened with gears of war 3.

If I keep facepalming at all the retardness in this world I wouldn't have a forehead right now. Or a hand. Or both.

In this case the article writer was talking about IGN. Such an amazing article isn't it? Being a writer he is actually criticizing another writer while criticizing the criticizers of the writer of the eurogamer's review.

You don't remember because it didn't happen to get picked up as a story on news sites.  Here are some comments from the Eurogamer review of Gears of War 3 which happened to get an 8 as well:

I would assume that David Jaffe responded after it became a news story and not because the reaction was so unexpectedly awful that he felt it through the internet.  I'd have to check though.
