I'm not christian but I';l tell you my opinion anyhowz
I think the whole "keep the sabbath day sacred" is now obsolete in the modern age where it is a neccesety to trade 7 days a week.

I'm a Christian, and while I don't work on Sundays because I'm in the family business, where we take the day off to worship God, if I had a job that required me to work on Sunday, I wouldn't have a problem with it as long as it didn't interfere with church time.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I think it is a good idea not to trade on sundays. It gives all the guys who work in investment banking to spend at least the morning with their families, before heading back to work for the next 6.5 days.

There was a time in America years ago, when everything shut down on Sundays. Ask your grandparents if you don't believe me.

Taking a day to let the body rest is wise, BTW.

now what would it give you, really? Why trade on every day of the week. I would love to hear a good reason.

@Faxadu: Becouse most of the people have time only in weekends to go shopping.

However I consider christians that want to work in Sundays hypocrits (except doctors and such kind of jobs).

Wasn't there some kind of fable about sabbath days?

Something like, a Jew fell down a well on a Saturday, but he wouldn't let Christians help him, because he believed it was everybodies sabbath day. On the Sunday the Christians WOULDN'T help him, because it was their sabbath day.

By the Monday he had drowned.

Something like that.

Anyway, if the Christian God is all-good, then he wouldn't mind people working on his Sabbath day to provide a living for yourself and your family.

ah, you guys mean by trading "stores being open and people able to go shopping".

Man, I thought "trading" is something you do on the stock exchange.

Stores should be open on Sundays, most definitely.

Faxanadu - Maybe because most people work Monday-to-Friday and maybe even Saturday, so they'd need to go out shopping on the Sunday.

People, like me and my family, who are Athiest (or any religion that doesn't have a sabbath day on Sunday) may want to go out for dinner, or even pick up some milk and bread.

Hell, even King Henry VIII believed that the English man was getting too lazy, and made it law that every Englishman went archery on a Sunday afternoon. And he was a pretty big Christian (read: Church of England, a founding of).
