Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Takes A Shot At The Wii In New Dance Central 2 Ad?

Shame on you Sony, you fail once again. Trashing the competition like that. You never learn. Oh wait...

To be honest Just Dance may be a fun game, but there isn't any dancing involved. The thing is though, the public doesn't really wanna dance. And the sales reflect that.
Singstar Dance is an actual Dance game with horrible sales. I've played it for many hours and the choreography is quite difficult. It requires skills, as you have to do the actual choreography from the music video. You really can't half-ass it.
It's similar to the wii sports and sports champions. I played many hours of both games and had tons of fun with both games, though most of my friends who are casual gamers prefer the wii sports as they can't be bothered to learn how to play properly. To each his own I guess.

Lol is that Dance Central hate in here?

Both DC and JD target a different audience. Both games are really good at what they do and those who like them have a lot of fun.

The op isn't DC's target and it shows. First you don't know DC at all, the game requires you to dance for real and I mean all your body needs to do what the game asks you to do. JD you could play sit on a chair and only wave your wrists and the game would still think you're having the time of your life. I'm not saying JD is a bad game but it's for those who don't want to dance for real or simply don't know how to. Parties are not better with JD it's just different as anyone can pick a pair of Nunchucks and wave them all around and score big heck you could even strap them to your dog and it would still work. So it really is for "ANYBODY".

Parties with DC are different, I recon that if you don't know how to dance you'll have to learn and like all human beings you may look silly while doing so but guess what, some people have fun even when they look silly. It all depends on what you consider being silly. I think I look silly when I "pretend" to be dancing when playing JD. I don't have as much fun as I have playing DC, it's all a matter of taste.

Motion gaming is really hard to review because it all depends on who reviews the games. If you're some fat dude that never exercise or even if you're not fat you just don't do much movements I understand that games that require your whole body to move won't be your cup of tea and games like JD will allow you to have more fun while not doing much.

People that do a lot of exercise will be soar after a session of Kinect games yes, but they are used to doing a lot of exercise so it will be more fun to them to do more movements than just waving wrists.

I love how everyone in that Ad had a really large living room.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I love how everyone in this thread automatically assumes people who like JD over DC must like it because:
1) its not really dancing
2) can't dance
3) likes to just wave an arm
4) insert additional negative trait

Are you all that simple you can't think in broad terms? oh noes, its not HD and bloody it must be for kidzzzz.

Again the difference is just like Mario Kart vs Gran Turismo. One is an arcade game meant for humor and fun first and foremost while the other is meant to simulate the action as best as possible.

They are different in design and ouput. It doesn't mean those that prefer Mario Kart:
1) are not really racing
2) can't drive/race
3) just likes to throw shells
4) insert additional negative trait related to racing

Its just fun for specific environments.

I still hold on to my circumstantial evidence that JD (Wii) is by far the better game for most people, especially in party atmospheres. I think the FAR larger sales prove this point over and over again.

I suspect many of you have parties with like 5 people so waiting in line to play is no issue. However, mine usually have 20 or more peeps so waiting for one person to play (DC) or two at a time even (DC2) just sucks and is so borrrrrring... hell, depending on night and number of people you may get to play a couple times only. Whereas with 4 players at a time the whole party plays numerous times and you really get great challenges going on different songs.

I can't believe that there is a dispute over which game is more fun. How do you even measure something like that? The fun-ometer?

I understand what you mean, I have played to almost all dancing/music games on different platforms. Would it be DDR, The Hero/Band series, Karaoke, Just Dance and Dance Central. JD is a party maker that's for sure. Anyone can grab the Wiimote and have fun and the dance routines are meant to not be too complicated too. The colors and the songs have been choosen to appeal to a broader audience.

DDR/Hero/Band series are not as good in parties since they're harder to play. You have to know where to put your hands/finger/feet on the different controllers to play properly.

@ bolded: That's how you view things really. Just because you couldn't get more than 5 people to play DC doesn't mean that other people can't. More people doesn't make a greater party. People don't line up to play DC, they just do it, just because you're not the one recognised by the Kinect doesn't mean you can't have fun. The same can be said about JD on Wii. If you think you look stupid doing the routine in the back then don't do it, to me it's like there's music, there's alcool, there's people having fun... what else do you want?

lol ad is funny... like anyone plays any dancing game alone.

In a party atmosphere... wii dance games are just more fun. More players at a time, just as much movement, etc...

Even Just Dance on Kinect isn't as much fun as the Wii version.

Really superchunk, sometimes even you must sigh at your love for Nintendo.

Anyway, different strokes for different folks, if you can't see the appeal in Dance Central then .. well I'm not surprised. It has 2 player so that isn't 'alone' and judging by the last games sales, it seems 2+ million dance 'alone'

You don't need to use controllers and it's real dancing, vs Just Dance which isn't, the entire game is better quality and obviously more talent has had to go into DC than JD.

I can certainly see the appeal in Just Dance though, just like how the majority prefer Mcdonalds over a steakhouse

Hey that's not true! People only go to Mcdonalds way more because steakhouse's are expenisve! So that's a rather bad analogy

I don't have any hot friends who own 360s like this ad suggests. I am sad. :(

EDIT: Or as fashionable...

Hmm, pie.
