Forums - Sony - Trophy Cap Raised - also includes info on player with most trophies

In early September, we reported that the PlayStation Network level cap has been reached by a PS3 account known as Hakoom. The level cap was 50 (1%), and it seemed that Sony didn't have any intention of letting PS3 users go any higher for the time being.

But Hakoom reached out to us here at IGN to let us know that the cap had indeed been lifted. After verifying the information on the PlayStation Network for ourselves, we're ready to report that Level 50 (1%) is no longer the absolute height of what PS3 gamers could reach.

Hakoom is now at Level 55 (42%), with 15,662 total Trophies earned. That includes 296 Platinum Trophies. However, the user duck360 is still king, sitting at Level 56 (84%), with 15,868 Trophies and 319 Platinum Trophies. Whether or not there is a new cap remains to be seen, although one of these two dueling Trophy Hunters are bound to answer that question for themselves one day soon.

As we put in the last article we wrote about the Trophy cap, here is some context in how many Trophies these two gamers have. Both Greg Miller and myself play and write about PlayStation 3 for a living. And we're both sitting at level 18.

It's insane as to the amount of trophies some people get (and I call myself a trophy whore!), although there's no doubt they don't do it alone. Unless they do nothing but play games all day, with maybe 4-5 hours of sleep, there's no way they can do it alone. I do remember hearing that people send games to Hakoom, so there goes the financial situation.

i have heard that Hakoon is actually a group of gamers under 1 iD? not sure is Duck is though.

it works out something like since the PS3 launch they would have had to earn 6-7 trophies a day.. that doesnt seem much but i guess it really is!

This is probably what those users look like.

Signature goes here!

Damn, can you guys imagine what these guys would feel like if they lost all of that?

duck360 is a team of four guys from Kuwait. They were profiled in the last issue of Playstation Magazine.

Some people claim that Hakoom hacks because some of his trophies were unlocked out of order according to the timestamps, but he has shown on YouTube how that can happen when you switch savegames between PS3s. Also, he is a fucking badass at Mortal Kombat, so I think he's legit.
