Forums - Sony - 32GB PS Vita cards out of stock! Yes, Japan likes it bigger! :P

The 4GB model is 2,200yen (approximately $29), 8GB 3,200yen ($42), 16GB 5,500yen ($72), and if you want to go the whole hog, a 32GB style will set you back 9,500yen ($124). "

The prices for the card as of now are outdated, almost all of the online retailers in Japan have lowered the price.

Those are the standard prices set by Sony, so they are not outdated. Retailers (online and B&M) usually give a slight discount on all products. Some do not though and the prices from Sony will be what they sell for.

A 160gb PS3 sells for 24,980 yen (price set by Sony), but just because I can buy it cheaper for 23,385 yen from Amazon JP doesn't mean the original price is outdated.

You mean they are proprietary cards and not SD cards? Another FAIL on Sony's part if that is the case. I actually liked most of the Vita's features and where things were heading until seeing this, but I suppose as long as games can be bought at retail on cartridges or whatnot then I'm fine with whatever internal memory they have.

Yeah, Vita will use it's own propriety memory cards.

http://www.vg247.com/2011/09/19/ouch-vita-memory-card-pricing-revealed/

"As the Vita is a Sony product, these memory cards are proprietary, and you’re forced to buy specific Sony-branded merchandise.

According to a new press release, there are four different memory card sizes due for release in Japan alongside the Vita in December, and you can expect to pay a premium for your megabytes.

How much lower? 32GB @ ~100$ ish is insane...

Well you just can't straight up convert japan prices to dollars in one go. Usually, I see them go down about 25-33% of the original price in Japan but that's not written in stone.

And the prices in Japan lowered by 10-15%. Some still stuck with the original price set by Sony but that's to be expected with something that in demand that sold out everywhere except probably for one retailer or so...

Okay, so 0.15 of 124$ is 18.6. It's down roughly 18US at best. that's still > 105US. It's crazy... I'd get a 4G one reluctantly just to get some PSN games.

Are you planning on importing by the way? If that's what you want, it's really going to be a pain.

Not really, if it were up to me I'd just wait another 4 years and buy the Vita and all the games and accessories 2nd hand, like I did with my PS2, like I'm about to do with the PS3, like I might do with the Vita. I may just get a PSP cause I'm interested in the PSN, but the Vita hardware looks really worth it. Even Tekken vs SF doesn't interest me that much anymore, so I'll probably just be getting PSN stuff. But we'll see that might change.

It's just my guess that the prices will be similar when it's brought over to this side of the Pacific.

This side of the pacific? Are you from Asia? Well if that's the case, that's really going to be pricey unless you're near HongKong.

padib# Crazy in US maybe but not in the rest of the world ;), I would say this is a good price here in Sweden.

And don't forget that almost everything is more expensive in Japan.

lol!

Wow.. and people say the Xbox hard drives are over priced... How much memory is included internally on Vita?

Well Sony said they expect to recover the cost of the Vita on accesories, besides didn't an 8MB PS2 Memory Card used to cost like 30$?
