Ultimate is the series Marvel uses to do crazy stupid things that just wouldn't fly in the 616 world.

Examples include direct connections to the zombie universe.

It's from the Ultimate series... does anyone really care?

Probably considering it outsells the Amazing Spider-man comic.

Yet, it sold amazingly well. Marvel Zombies came from Ultimate universe, the story was first writen in Ultimate Fantastic Four, bit more then a direct connection. Which then produced it's own mini series. Also, Marvel Zombies 3, was involving Machine Man was set in 616 and he was directly sent to the Zombie verse, so 616 has a connection too.

Stories in Ultimate world seem alright at the moment, not that I'll buy them. They are different which they should be, for too long the Ultimate world was turning into slightly different 616 yet it now differs greatly. Just a shame 616 is moving in the wrong direction, X-men is a mess. As of next month there will be 5 main X-men books, New Mutants, X-force. And Wolverine is in  7 book as far as I can count. No wonder his character is maxingly inconsistant.

Question how does multi comics work? do all focus on the same material or is each series different? I always read main series book and Ultimates..

Just noticed a big typo in my post, 'maxingly' isn't a word, should be 'amazingly'.

In my view they don't. There used to be 2 main X-men books, that turned into 3 because of Whedon, his stories didn't even relate back to the other 2 main titles which did relate to each other. Now, Uncanny and Legacy, and soon Wovlerine and the X-men will be the books that relate back to this, X-men and Astonishing X-men don't could easily be considered not in continuity. X-men book seems to be more focusing on guest appearences but I don't care, and I'd hope sales would dictate, custoemr don't care either. Astonishing was once a book for Whedon, then he left after shitting on it and Eliis too over, 2 big names, now Daniel Way writes it, no point even keeping the book. Uncanny X-men is being reset back to #1 for no reason other then marketing yet it's the only book they had never 'relaunched'. Legacy and Uncanny are the 2 main and they have the most characters and are involved in the main events and universe, the other X-men seem pointless. X-force and New Mutants can stay as they are different. Just wish X-force would stop ruining heroic characters by turning them into murderers.

Only a few X-men are left that are heroes. Sad days.

EDIT: I'm very bitter today.

They start a new era every 2 years or so, after reading for 10, it's getting a bit tiresome. They aren't ending Uncanny though, just relaunching and it's this month it's all happening. And no, you are seriously not missing anything. Avengers books are the best at the moment at Marvel.

Hmm, pie.

I really like this change
