Well it seems to be a good thing that it wasnt marketed as much when it came out for PC. a 2 week free trial on the PS3 wouldnt be a bad idea either. i think it will be okay tbh, FF11 is still going, these MMOs get better over time. FF14 will get better over time. and the improvements they make will be communicated to the gaming community via websites, etc. and it will spread that way. when Wada said that the FF brand has been greatly damaged, he was right, but it wasnt damaged by FF14. so i think he was using FF14 as a scapegoat. i dont think the game is as bad as it being made out to be. an MMO can keep recovering and i'm sure the PS3 version will be well recieved. |
Yeah, MMOs do get better over time, as long as the developers support it with new content and the like. Otherwise, it will get stale and people will migrate from it to another, more populated, game.
I highly doubt this will have any affect on the release of FFV13. I'm guessing that it will release in mid-late 2012, at least in Japan. WW launch in early 2013.
As far as FF14 goes, I might pick it up if they fix a lot of the problems that were there at launch. Though, I have heard they have been slowly fixing them as time has been passed. Also, if they want a shit load of people to buy it and pay for it, they need to have a demo on the PSN, as well as keep it free to play, with micro-transactions for the better gear. That's what saved LOTR Online and Sony knows the benefit of that model because they are switching to that model for DC Online, as well.

It's not going to happen.
The game is picking up awesome every month. The naysayers should just give it a rest and accept that.
They allowed the hardcore fans to play free for a year while they revamp the entire game with the new graphic engine that is optimized for both PC and PS3. Keep in mind it is being developed for PC first. Speaking of revamp, it is also an entire new staff of 250 people, not very large but it is a big hand full to redo the game. Yes it will be a "new game" when version 2 is released.
I believe Versus XIII will be released with a FFXIV beta code.

If 2.0 truly reboots the game then hooray, but if not then what's the point?
