Well today something happened a lot of people are upset about. A British Columbian school has banned a fundraiser item from being worn in school. The fundraiser item in question is a Breast Cancer awareness bracelet. The bracelet is seen as offensive in some cases and not suitable for school children. The bracelet states "I love boobies" teachers began noticing students were "Being distracted" and that the bracelets were being worn for a provocative intent rather then there purpose. As the bracelets became more popular the school noticed a problem that the bracelets were causing issues in the school.

So the school's teachers voted and decided to ban the bracelets from school. Telling students they can wear them if they get flipped over and the statement is not visible. They also can put them in their lockers till the end of the day.

However a student at the school Jamie Crowley, says the school is wrong in there beliefs."My grandma had breast cancer," she said. "It's good that all these people are buying these. It's more money towards breast cancer and more people can get cured." adding "Most of us are mature enough to handle it. We're not wearing them because they say 'boobies' on them. We're wearing them because they're for breast cancer."

The breast cancer organization is standing behind the bracelets with executive director Michelle Murray saying "This is a younger demographic," said Murray. "It resonates with people who may not feel impacted by a pink ribbon." "I always ask when I run into kids, 'Why do you wear them?' and a lot of the times, I'll get 'Because my mom had breast cancer,' or 'My grandmother died from breast cancer,' or 'My friend's mom...' Nine times out of 10, I'm getting kids who have been impacted somewhere along the line."

I think the bracelets should definitely not say "I love boobies" on them. That's childish, and every single hormonal boy in the campus is going to be giggling and not paying attention in school.

Considering the teachers even said they could be worn inside out, I don't think they're at fault at all here. The idiots who designed the bracelets are at fault.

It's understandable since the bracelet has "I heart boobies" on it.

When I was in highschool most of the people that wore those bracelets wore them because of the "I love boobies" bit. It's a great way to get breast cancer awareness out there (as there's anyone left in the world that isn't aware of it at this point in time) but I can see why schools would have them banned. Maybe if they changed the bracelet to be less distracting.

While its made tons of money for research.. and a lot of fakes for people... its not appropriate. Would you let your kids walk around with bracelets that said "I Love Testies!" or "I Love Sack!" for testicular cancer research? ... or how about "I love the brown-eye!" for colon cancer?

Its just disrespectful imo.

I also don't understand why breast cancer gets so much attention over all the others... granted I do really love boobies... I mean I REALLLLLLY love boobies, so I'm glad they are being worked on. But, why is breast cancer so much more favored over all the others?

I also can't stand the favoritism that breast cancer seems to get either. Don't get me wrong, it is a horrible condition I am sure, but what about other far more prevalent diseases like diabetes (it amazes me how many people have no clue what it is when I have to explain it to them). Last I heard there were about 2.5 million women in the U.S. that have/had breast cancer where as the total number of diabetics in the world by 2030 will be about 350,000 million (well over the population of the entire U.S.) or more. Trust me it is an awful thing to live with even while I am in the prime of life ... I can only imagine how things will be 30 or 40 years from now considering that I and other diabetics are at double or triple the risk for virtually any illness or condition you can name.

I guess we just need a color or rather a new color aside from grey (fitting for the drudgery of life with the disease, but it is not exactly appealing for other people to rally behind), and bracelets that say "I love pancreases" ... too bad that is not as sexy/distracting as the breast cancer version.

I checked the numbers (Source german wikipedia: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krebs_(Medizin) ) and breast cancer has the second highest rate. The highest rate  has prostata cancer, but it's just a little bit higher. In my oppinion it's right to concentrate on the cancer which happens to most people.

And it's easier to promote touching a womans breast than sticking a man a finger into the ass.

haha, I'm female and even I can see the funny side of this, and its a good cause, no idea what the schools issue is, maybe they are the ones that need to mature a bit & see the funny side too. Its not like there isnt a million other things (smartphones, gaming machines, friends, the opposite sex) that also distract kids from school & you dont see them geting banned. Plus the breast cancer appeal is only for a few days. Very silly banning it

I agree with the school. The article title makes it seem way more dramatic and worse than it actually is. They didn't ban showing support for breast cancer, just those childish (not to mention inappropriate) bracelets
