The Alchemist is really bad. So are all the books from that writer, some more so, some less.
Love in the times of cholera is fantastic. So are all his books. Actually, try reading his Biography. That one is fantastic.

I have read so many books that there are no favorites anymore.

Currently...it is the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I just finished the 6th book in the series.
One book that I really truly enjoyed though is "Measuring the World" by Daniel Kehlmann.
Highly recommended for starring the massive Alexander von Humboldt.

No, as it's only 1 book.

@metallicube...Shannarra? I read the first book, it was really good! |
Spend the 10 bucks on the paperback version, it's well worth it. When a book makes your heart race and makes you miss your stop on public transport you know it's well written.

That is mainly when I read now as well! On the train to chicago. Alright I will pick it up. Did you mean hardcover? |
No softcover, I find hardcover to cumbersome to take with me.
A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R Martin is my fave.
After that it's a tough call. The Royal Assassin series by Robin Hobb is fairly good, but so is The Malazan book of the Fallen (Steven Eriksson) and I'm part way through the Dune series which is brilliant so far.
Sword of Truth is probably one of my least faves (although I still managed to read all of the books in the series... it started well) as Goodkind just seems to over politicise everything and the scenarios between Richard and Kahlen become more and more contrived as the series went on.
Also, as we're comparing authors with ridiculously long series' I think Raymond E.Feist with his Midkemia/Magician books must be up there.
