They cut the price $50 in August.

It was value assumption really. The 360 staying at $299 made it's bundles worth much more when you have them at $199. People see it as $100 price cut instead of $50 versus PS3 price cuts. Glad 360 is winning the holidays tho!

So what is the actual number now? If we take the OP and add December 10th week's numbers, the lead is down to about ~650k... or is there adjustments that are not factored in?

With the 17th and 24th numbers left for big 360 leads, it just may be able to pull it off! Last year, the 360 lead by ~350k for those 2 weeks, so if it leads by even more this year which is a great possibility, it could make up that extra 300k!

You're probably right.  MS are probably funding a part if not all of the gift cards, etc. as part of a a vendor funded promotion.  Sony has pinned it's hopes on the price cut increasing baseline demand coupled with a number of bundles driven by content within its control.  MS has heaviliy pushed gift card/bundle combinations which appear fantastically good value to consumers - and represent a real terms huge price drop for 360 to the buyer.

I've said since this whole topic started off that this would be MS strategy and if they did mannage to nab first place it would primarly be via the US market driven by extremely good bundles/offers almost certainly funded by MS themselves.

It's now looking to be close - and TBH I feel more and more it's going to head for a statistical tie (i.e. they will be within a few percent of each other for the year whichever way it goes).  I'm very curious to see how MS and Sony respond publicly if it is very close - I'm not sure how either could cite accurate enough sources to claim a sure fire win.  Guess we'll see soon enough.

805k now... the PS3 was adjusted UP and 360 adjusted DOWN last week.

I looked for one also with the biker resembling Ballmer, but I was asking for too much! 

Really? That would have to have been quite the adjustment to make that big of a difference to nullify this week. I guess we will wait for NPD and end of the quarter shipment figures and whatnot for adjustments. I really don't see the PS3 as undertracked at all. More likely overtracked and 360 undertracked given the last month or so of sales and reports.

But all this is confusing me since I can't even use the Hardware Table anymore past like November 12th or something...
