Doesn't mean anything. With Uncharted 3 it was the same situation.

No it isn't. MS contacted IGN and told them to change it, with the Uncharted 3 it was the other way around.
So... When will Sony announce their official numbers?

No I was trying to be sincere here : I'm not saying that VGchartz has better data but INDEPENDENT data, and thus has a lot more credibility than Microsoft to declare a winner. In a football match, who takes the decision? The referee or the opposing teams? |
Not true at all. Microsoft is as independent as it gets. They are one of the biggest companies the world and thus have an obligation for transparency to shareholders on their statements more so than any company I can think of. Your comment is not well thought out and shows a lack of understanding of real business.

I must admit you have a point here
d21lewis said: I missed a couple of pages but I would like to point out that, of the comments I've seen, when it was reported that the PS3 won 2011, Microsoft fans said that Microsoft did a good job anyway and congratulated Sony on a well deserved win. Now we are getting reports that Sony may not have won 2011. I would hope that, if this is true, Sony fans show the same level of respect. |
Ha!
According to Eurogamer Holidays sales for Ps3 are 3.9m between 21st November and 5th January... We have it at 4.6M wich means is overtracked by 0.7m.
Meanwhile Xbox 360 is undertracked by 1.6 Milions or 800K depending if MS used Shipped or Sold.
Kinect is Undertracked by about 2.5M or 1.5M depending if MS used Shipped or Sold.
So yeah, Xbox won 2011 easily.
Well tomorrow is NPD Day, its gonna be fun.

PS3 sales weren't 3.9m WW, only some countries in Europe, America and Japan I think. |
Actually its WorldWide since they gave us info like this back in 2009 and numbers were worldwide and NPD, Media Create and Nintendo European Figures pretty much prove numbers were worlwide.

North America, Europe/Pal (meaning all by the sounds of it) and Asia. Covers a massive patch WW.
PAL Countries - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAL_region
