Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox 360 Vs. Playstation 3 2012 - *February* Update

Can someone let me know how many PS3 needs to be shipped between Oct ~ Dec to keep the lead ahead of 360?

with in 800k of MSs Oct- Nov. shipments to have a 100k shipment lead for the year right now the minmum MS could of shipped is 8.4M assuming they didnt round up from 65M all the way till 9.3M assuming they are being conservative with ther 66M number being 66.9M

so if sony announces in the next few days 7.5M or less there done

as for units sold in 2011 you know the numbers VGC tracks what this site is all about, its harder to till but the larger the shipment gap from tie is the less likely sony out SOLD them

i believe sony lost by alot in the 500k plus range, as my past posts in here correspond to these beliefs

@Seece any chance of those good old posts where you go back in the thread and revive the dumbest comments and post them in one post? I think for this thread it'll be hilarious.

Also good job making one of the most volatile threads on VGC - with the title like that.. Oosh. Even I thought you were friggin' nuts when you made it.

Uh, I like those just as much as you but I think you need to relax a little. I'm sure if Seece is going to due such a thing, he will wait until it's undisputable, unless of course you want to be on the wrong end of those types of quotes.

True enough, but when MS themselves stated that, kind of hard to dispute. Was it 100% worldwide and not just US?

It seems like it's 100% worldwide but some people are saying no so we'll have to wait and see for sure.

Off topic: I can't believe I used "due" for "do"

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

I didn't even notice that, well seems like even Troll Whisperer has jumped the gun on this, seeing as he had already managed to create a thread announcing it. I think it might be true, I don't think Sony claimed such a feat in their CES.

Disconnect and self destruct, one bullet a time.

Can someone explain to me what happened today ? Why would 360 have won 2011 now that MS annonced 15m ? Weren't they meaning "shipped" ?

Don't mind my poor english, I'm french.

It could be up to 66.4, meaning 2 difference. Or they might have rounded up, which doesn't make sense to me personally :s. Why on earth you'd round up 65.6 to 66. I would understand if it was 64.8 and they rounded up to "almost 65".

up to 66.9

last year even it's 50.8 they still just said over 50m

I think that may be because 50m is such an incredible milestone. More so than 51m. For example, if the Wii shipped 101m, Nintendo might report "Over 100m!" simply because it sounds better.

Not just basing it on shipment numbers, like many people do.

360s On shelves...

2006: 2.4 million
2007: 2.0 million
2008: 1.8 million
2009: 1.8 million
2010: 0.6 million

2011: 1.6 million?

Why are people saying that we are undertracking the 360?

As I said in thread #1 and #2 about this subject:

Need I remind you that Sony announced in early December that they were slightly AHEAD of their 15 Million target for 2011?

"Well certainly with the Xbox 360, we had some challenges at the launch. Once we identified that we took control of it. We wanted to do it right by our customers. Our customers are very important to us." -Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb (10/2013). Note: RRoD was fixed with the Jasper-revision 3 years after the launch of 360

"People don't pay attention to a lot of the details."-Yusuf Mehdi explaining why Xbone DRM scheme would succeed

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity; it's called Xbox 360,”-Don Mattrick

"The region locking of the 3DS wasn't done for profits on games"-MDMAlliance

And they said yesterday they are on target for 15 Million. So maybe new orders slipped as December continued.
