xD I know I know, But the best PC game I've ever seen is Battlefield 3, and that looks better than Battlefield 3 on highest settings to me :p

Ports or not, PC games tend to run at higher resolutions and higher framerate not averaging 30 FPS at 720P...im not taking a jab at Uncharted but you need to realise that nothing on consoles can touch PC in graphics department except artstyle which is entirely subjective. |
The special effects, animation, not only of drake, but of the environments as well (sand) All running very smoothly with super high res textures and MLAA? To me, it's the best looking game I've ever seen, maybe not technically (very few games outdo it though) but it's smooth and fitting, the art atyle is amazing.

You think I don't know that? Resolution alone does not make any game look great you know...I'm not talking about FPS either, just overall graphical look. I game a lot on my PC, so I know how PC games look. Sure, many look cleaner than UC3 but there aren't many so polished as UC3 is. Fluid animations (best I've seen), jaw-dropping effects (Fire, sand, water), extremely detailed characters (especially the faces), oh and the way everything moves in the breeze. Not to mention the incredible art direction, which is in fact a part of the overall graphics. It just looks like the complete graphical package, surely better looking than most PC games except a few such as Metro, Witcher 2, Crysis. |
This :)

I'm with nsanity, in that the only way a console game can even compete with gaming PCs for the visual top slot is in terms of art direction; tech from 2006 simply can't accomplish what tech from 2011 can from a technical perspective.
That said, Uncharted 3 is the best looking CONSOLE game I've ever seen.
I swore I wouldn't look at any more gameplay vids because I wanted to save myself for when I'm playing. But I couldn't resist.
At least in this vid the haters can't come along and say "it's just the pretty colours".

yes this game, its play, and graphics are sick.

I'll quick reply to the above without having read the rest of the thread:
Better pixels >>>> More pixels!!!
OT: Still not convinced that this is the best animation possible at the moment. There are still unnatural transitions between states. I gues much more noticeable when you see others play the game, and not playing it yourself.

Some people don't seem to understand that most games on pc's these days are horrible console ports, that end up looking odd at increased resolution. Simply because the game is not built with a higher resolution in mind and the developers don't even bother to adapt the game properly to pc's.
And wtf is up with thinking graphics is nothing but resolutions and framerates??? As pezus has pointed out its much much much more than that. Anybody who actually plays games on pc these days should agree that most games on pc don't look great especially at hi res. And that consoles are holding pc development back.
Its not like they make the animation and AI better on the pc versions of games....unless the game is built for pc's in mind and theres a very few of those (battlefield 3, witcher 2 etc.). Even if they are, developers keep in mind multiplatform development in which case the game design is limited. Fable 3 is a good example of a bad pc port...the game looks horribly bland on pc, even though its got better resolution and framerates.
Uncharted 3 looks great for any game on any platform. Don't see how people can try and downplay that.
