Ohh, yeah, Good Point Saiyar,

New Line Cinema and HBO are from WB. Maybe we can get The LOTR Trilogy, The Sopranos, and The Golden Compass(when its released).

That is probably the third most desirable thing for me to have for my PS3 (1 being FFXIII, 2 being GTA IV)

*drools* The Lord of the Rings Trilogy on Blu-Ray.

Profcrab,

I agree, BR cost Sony a lot and they killed their PS3 to help the BR
but if the BR kill the HD DVD (expected now) and IF the BR kill the DVD too (not sure)
then I think they will get their money back

Remember the PS3 has lot of problem in NA because the Xbox360 is doing very well. If the HD DVD die then the PS3 offer will just skyrocket because buying a BR player will be the best thing to do if u want to play HD movie.

I think PS3 back in 08/09 and BR supremacy over DVD "could" bring Sony lot of money.

rocketpig,

you are right, I dont have a real evidence about this.
I should not have mentionned it.

Blu-Ray movies will bring Sony alot of money, but it won't help PS3 profitability much.  The PS3 was a sacrifice to Blu-Ray.  Even if Sony pulls 1/3 of the console market eventually, they will have handed a large portion of the HD game market to Microsoft.  That loss in market share is going to be felt for a long time after this HD war is long over.  I don't think Sony intended for this to happen though.  Originally, they thought they were going to destroy the market with the PS3.  Nintendo completely stole their launch thunder though.

Blu-Ray will not kill DVD.  DVD is going to be around for a long time.  It is a cheap format that everyone has access to.  Blu-Ray discs are not any more convenient than DVDs so you don't have the same transition as you did from VHS to DVD.  DVDs will be the primary format until Blu-Ray players are dirt cheap and the price of the discs are close to where DVDs are now.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

It would be totally sweet if anyone would release anything I want to purchase on an HD format. Then I might care.

No Indiana Jones, no Star Wars, no LoTR, no Speilberg films=No HD purchases for Rocketpig

oh man, that'd be nice.

The movies didn't look that much different on my PS3 than our DVD player. . . So I'd really like to see it look as shown on TNTHD, except with our whole surround sound aiding the experience as well.

Can't wait till the rental store we go to starts stocking Blu-Ray's. They said a year ago that the chain is waiting to see where the format war goes so maybe stuff like this can help tip the balance to stocking blu-ray.

We should start a petition for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Blu-Ray.

The two blu-rays that I want the most, Star Wars two trilogies, Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Stars Wars and LOTR on Blu-Ray would be awesome.

Unfortunately, don't expect to see HD Star Wars for several more years. Shit, it took a huge petition and 7 years of waiting to get the movies on DVD.

Lucas has said he wants to do archival editions, and there is a lot of stuff on wiki that gives me some hope it could come soon.
