(Thanks to Rol, i know that the proper name is Fighting games now, sadly i cant change the Topic title, nor can i change the Poll option's.. tolerate it, please. =) )

Fighting Games  - A Genre, that did Struggle a bit for the first two Years in this Console's Lifecycle.

Example's worth Mentioning were.. well.. Dead or Alive (Release title for the 360), Virtua Fighter 5, and maybe King of Fighters XII aswell as Soul Calibur 4, together with some license Games.

the first huge games of this genre in the last couple of Years were Probably Street Fighter IV and Tekken 6, together with the pleasantly surprising BlazBlue Games, which were followed just recently by Mortal Kombat.

Today, we have Tekken X StreetFighter, Streetfighter X Tekken, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Bloody Roar 5, Persona 4: WhateverTheNameWas, BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2, Soul Calibur 5, and some notsogood example's (Which surely are still interresting enough for genre Maniacs) to look forward to, which is, pretty much the best Fighter LineUp since this Console generation began.

What's your take of this? Am i talking nonsense, Do you agree, or is there else to say about this?

/Discuss!

Those aren't beat 'em ups :/

My take on this is that you need to adjust to English standards. While it's true that the genre you are talking about is called beat'em up in German, it's a misnomer. The beat'em up is actually a subgenre of fighting games and describes titles like Final Fight and Streets of Rage.

The term "beat'em up" (beat them up) really doesn't work for fighting games like Street Fighter etc., because those are about one-on-one battles.

Damn.. didnt know that, i'll change it to Fighting Games right away, thanks! (that shocked me now, i really believed it's Beat'em Ups, no matter what.. xD)

edit: <.< cant neither change the title, nor the Poll.. well,  at least i've learned something today.. i guess. ^^".. *Sigh*

edit 2: If a mod could be so nice however.. ? :D .. at least the title. o:

I was gonna say "Not unless we get another streets of rage buddy"... but I'm gonna say no. 3D fighters these days suck and we don't have enough 2D ones to make up for it. Back in the day, fighters were all I played. Not so much these days. The less Tekken and Bloody Roar I see, the better.

Oh well. I can always count on Capcom and ASW to entertain me.

ASW needs to work on a more fluid fighting system. Bloody Roar is awesome

Eh, I never liked it. IMO, BlazBlue is more fluid than SF, though - at least combo execution is far easier for one without an arcade stick (moi).

AWS games have great sprite work, great animation, but the characters feel like tanks...SF4 is designed be more like a boxing match, thats why its slow .. BB is designed to be a fast pace game but does feel lit it.
