The more and more people talk about this game the more I want to give ICO and Shadow of the Colossus a chance. If it they thrive off of game play and not story I might give it a try.

I loved the gameplay of SoTC. I haven't played ICO yet but I plan on getting the collection soon. The story isn't in your face or anything. It's more the atmosphere and what isn't said out loud that presents the story, and you're left to fill in gaps with your own thoughts and feelings about what is happening. That's why these titles are so celebrated as art. The incite emotion rather than push it.

Well considering you seem to like most of the games I like I will assume it will be a good time.

Ico and SOTC actually don't have that much story.... infact i could say there is barely any story, but at the same time you get attached to the characters, not from their "story" (iE lots of dialog like other games) but from how "alive" they are. its hard to explain.
