Shipped - units shipped to retails

Sold through - units bought by consumers 

I think we need some thread or something to get the new visitors understand the difference. And it should be popularize at least monthy, IMO.

Everytime a sales chart comes up (monthly), someone will go and claim how inaccurate by comparing the sold through numbers with the official shipped numbers. 

So in short what your saying is; 'shipped' means ones that have travelled at least some distance on a ship to stores across water, and 'sold through' means they have to be 'sold' and transported 'through' the store door by a customer and not a member of staff.

Please verify this is accurate as it could easily confuse a stupid person.

generally when the three companies claim sold though they are refering to retail shipments... perhaps we should state that too.

 You haven't seen my inbox...but your right not everyone does...and a lot of people don't read informational pages either =/  Its can be tough to educate everyone without a way to do it systematically.

Actully, the term 'sell through' is also used to describe sold to retailers.

The only term that is for sure sold to consumer is 'sold to consumer'.

Well I was browsing through the forums when an old vgchartz member that was banned posted some vgchartz numbers for this week on a topic "Xbox 360 in trouble?" The user was called "Leo-305" I believe it was leoj.

Anyhow I went to see the comments and noticed people were laughing at him because they kept saying vgchartz isnt anymore accurate than nexgenwars.. he tried to defend the site but they kept attacking and the thread died quickly..

People think vgchartz is false and we have to do something about it.
