Would reinforcing my Longsword be a good investment? Right now it's sitting at +2. Also, would it be a good idea to stock up on a few poison arrows (are these even useful?)

Also Lestat, how many hours do you put into DS every day? Because you're making progress very fast lol.

Really feel like playing DS right now but I have a stupid ass assignment and essay to complete for tomorrow >.<

Hmm, there are better swords along the way than a Longsword, so you might wanna hold on to your Titanites. I only started forging after fighting Quelaag. Haven't tried the Poison arrows yet.

I've been putting a lot of hours, especially since i'm currently at a break in my thesis work until wednesday XD.

Lucky you...studies haven't been very kind to me.

Also, I made a very dumb mistake by not picking the master key as my gift. Totally regret it now because I hear there is no other way of getting it other than picking the theif as starting class (I picked pyromancer)

Is there any good place to farm for titanite ores?

Nah, that wasn't a mistake. I picked the Pendant instead of the master key myself and i'm doing just fine. You can find/buy all the keys you'll ever need.

The soldiers on undead parish (the big ones) drop Titanite Shards as rare drops, but the best spot for Titanite farming is on the Depths, since the slimes have a normal 1/5 rating of dropping Titanite Chunks which can be converted into Shards (after ringing the two bells, a NPC which does that, plus converts excess inventory into souls appears on the firelink shrine).

What does the pendant do? I picked the twin humanities, because it seemed the best and I didn't bother to check up which gift was the best option.

So far nothing, but the mini-guide hints at the fact that it will unlock some story with a NPC later in the game. You can find another Pendant in the game though, but it's easily missable.

Ah ok. Btw, you know that women behind bars in the fire link shrine who can't speak...should I give her my fire keeper soul to upgrade estus flasks?

You should, every Fire Keeper soul you find must be given to a Fire Keeper to enhance your Estus Flasks healing capacities. Also, if you freed Lautrec in the Undead Parish, then Anastacia will be dead after you ring the second bell. You'll get a chance to re-kindle the bonfire by hunting down Lautrec.

lestat, I´m considering playing the game, you seem to be quite experienced with it, so tell me..is it possible to beat the game without farming for souls?...I ask because I visited the Dark Souls thread on NeoGaf and many people were asking for advice on the best places to farm for souls and things like that.

So...is it possible but unlikely?...or possible and likely if you get good at the game?

It's very possible and likely to finish the game without farming anything, either souls or shards, from what has been my experience so far. I can't guarantee nothing for the later game bosses as I've not reached them, but you can tackle every area, as long as you're equipped for it, with soul levels far below mine.

To be completely honest, I haven't farmed for souls so far, as I've not required it and I've seen people with much lower level than I am, more advanced in the game. Some parts are frustanting, but they would be anyway even if you were at higher level, because the game depends a lot on the equipment you're carrying (much like Demon's Souls).

So yeah, it's pretty doable to beat the game (from my experience so far) without any kind of farming, especially if you get progressively better in it.

Thanks!...that´s good to hear!..in previous generations I had no problem grinding, farming for whatever items a game had...nowadays I no longer have the patience for that.

i pretty much Sign this. As for me, i did grind 10 soullevels over my playthrough so far, but the difference wasnt noticeable at all. if i do 120 damage with a hit, or 125 - the boss doesnt care. =)

@topic: i have to stop playing for today, but Dooood!.. the Archives. awesome Location. ^_^ (And this was the first time an enemy with a bow was a threat, he shot down 80% of health with one arrow.. xD)

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

You're welcome. To get most of the experience of Dark Souls grinding will be kept to a minimun if not zero as I told you. Of course, getting the platinum or 1000/1000 achievements (if you ever consider those), it will require a lot of grinding, as some unique weapons are very rare drops from enemies, but since it seems you just want to finish the game, it's a non-issue.

@Crystalchild - I really haven't grinded at all. My current SL, 53 (54 when and if I get to the Sen's fortress bonfire with all the souls that I have) is a natural effect of visiting almost all the areas available. The Dukes Archives seems to be one of the hardest areas in the game, along with the Crystal Caves or so I've read.
