^ I would think the fact that it doesn't fit would be a giveaway.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

the biggest 2.5" size available is a 250G. You can't get a 2.5" 320 or 500G drive (yet). If you go larger than 250G it will not work as it msut be a 3.5" drive. Hence, the 250G max size warning...

320GB is available. 500 will be quite soon.

I just installed mine today and wow, it was very easy. Took me less than 10 minutes. Plus you don't lose your PSN information, friends list, etc. All I had to do was save my game data to my flash drive and that's about it.

Currently playing: UT3, Madden 08, NBA 2k7, AoE:III

You have actually done the upgrade; or you have the above mentioned hardware, and are planning to make the change?  If you have actually made the switch...no problems with either the 320GB (too big for PS3 to recognize), nor the 7200rpm (too much heat and/or noise)?  Lastly; how did you backup your PSN purchased games (or was in necassary to do so at all)?

PSN - Thwip

I say get a refund for your ps3 and use the money to buy a ps3 with a bigger hard-drive. far safer

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

i have actually installed the HD and have had no issues with overheating or size constraints....drive is noticeably faster when writing to and from HD...as well as faster seek times within drive...psn also loads quicker...load times in general on games have been faster...i'm very happy with my purchase :)

I swaped my 60Go HD like raiin for the 320Go WD Scorpio (but the 5400 rpm version). No worry about running out of disk space anymore.

If it's a SATA HDD, you should be fine. And switching the drive will not void your warranty. If it did then they wouldn't but the instructions on how to do so in the manual.
