Forums - Nintendo - When will Zelda Wii be announced?

MrPickles said:
@ d21lewis: okay, but I think you get my point. ALMOST every Nintendo system has had two Zeldas (including the last 2 consoles and last 3 handhelds), so Wii will absolutely get at least one more.

@Grey: awesome suggestions! 3D LttP FTW!

I really do want another Zelda game. Every single one of them is great. I just don't want the criticisms that games like Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, and Streets of Rage used to get- awesome sequels that were more of the same. Twilight Princess was a Godsend, and some reviewers still balked at the lack of originality. Still, Nintendo knows what they're doing.

As we all know, Miyamoto said that Twilight Princess would be "the last Zelda game of its kind". The fun part is speculating what he meant by that.

Will we have a change in the timelines? Will it be futuristic? Are they going to deviate from the current formula? Are they going to change it from a 3rd person 'RPG' into another genre?

Oh the possibilities that can come from such a general phrase about such a great franchise really is exhilarating!

That was a COMPLETE rumor. The website that did that interview faked it.

It's amazing how far they've gotten it to go considering it's completely fake.

Then Game Informer Magazine has some explaining to do, as they supportted said 'rumour'.

Could you confirm for me that it's actually a false claim?

By life end:

  • Wii- 100 million+
  • Xbox360- 35~40 million
  • PS3- 30 million
  • PSP- 30~32 million ------------- FAILURE
  • NDS- 85~90 million (Skeptical)  - FAILURE
  • NDS- 100 million+ (Optimistic) -- Success!

It has already been announced I think. It goes under the name of:

TLoZ: Okami: Wii Edition

Oh, and if TP was the last zelda game of its kind, what do you call PH?

Phantom Hourglass was revolutionary for a Zelda game in that it was totally controlled with the stylus.

 2008 Predictions:

Wii: 44 Million
Xbox360: 25 Million
PS3: 22 Million

DS: 90 Million
PSP: 37 Million

But it was still a real, true to its roots Zelda game. Only cause you used the stylus to throw the boomerang doesnt mean you still threw that thing.

Anything that comes after "the lasT Zelda game of its kind" should be a bit different than "only" adding stylus control.

Actually I found that the phantom hourglass was quite different from other Zelda games. All the other Zelda games demanded dedication taking hours to get past a dungeon. PH on the other hand was pretty much a grab and go game where only 1 or 2 dungeons took me more than 30 minutes to clear.

Which Zelda games are you taking about in reference to dedication/hours spent.  Only Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess can take that long.  Pretty much every other Zelda game's dungeons were each clearable in under an hour (with a few exceptions).

ph was pretty much a 2d version of windwaker, with the annoyances at an all time high. i have to do more sailing? i have to repeat the same dungeon over and over? that dungeon involves stealth? the dungeons arent that good?

pretty much nothing innovative about it other than the absolutely fantastic controls.

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

I would much prefer Nintendo to get off their asses and start making new IP's rather than re-hashing tired old ones... I mean the Wii already has a Zelda game! I can honestly see the Wii becoming like the GC library, riddled with numerous Mario and Zelda games and not much else worth noting... I hope that they decide to actually take a chance and make some new games.

Making new Mario and Zelda games all the time is a bit too safe imo, show us what you can do Nintendo, maybe even get me to buy a Wii :P

The funny thing is that the ones complaining about Nintendo milking their franchises are the ones that don't actually play them.

Some guy on another forum had tons and tons of really elaborate proof that it was fake.

Some lousy website made it up in a fake interview.
