Forums - Nintendo - To those who said the Japanese Market doesn't matter anymore........

I think the Wii in Japan outselling it's American counterparts shows that Japan is still a viable market. You just have to give them what they want. Many have been discounting Japan because of low PS3 and MUCH lower 360 sales...but if Nintendo can pull off 352k in a week, I doubt all hope is lost for Japan when it comes to the console market

Currently playing:

Unreal Tournament 3, Warhawk, Rock Band, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, DMC2, then 3, and Radiata Stories

Agreed, dude japan is in it.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

Idiots and Xbox fanboys discount Japan.

This is just the beginning of Wii domination in Japan. In 2008 the Japanese market won't matter only for PS3 and 360.

And I just realized I should have put this in the "Sales" forum, not Nintendo, even though the Wii was my example....my bad lol

I would have liked to ignore Others and Japan last gen for me Cubes sake... but that is just not how it is.... Japan Market has change in taste, Nintendo caught it and reacted. Sony might have caught but did not have the ballz to act on it, and MS probably still thinks they want Halo.... No one should have expected Japan to keep playing the SAME games forever... Most likely that is why they addapted so slow to SMG, they were waiting for something new... they just need to realize that SMG is Revolutionary!!

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Nintendo and other companies have done very well on the Wii...Wait, scratch that, ONLY Nintendo has benefitted from Wii. The DS and PS2 are doing well with 3rd parties in Japan, but the Wii is just a failure in that respect. The only 3rd party that has managed to release a game with the sales of 250K is SE (maybe one of the DBZ games sold that much). Everything else...what' the word--oh yeah, flopped.

People should really start to worry when games like No More Heroes, Opoona, Dewey's Adventure, and many other games struggle to even reach 50k. I know it's only a year into the Wii's lifetime--I also know that a lot of the games are no better than horse excrement--but you can't deny the fact that games really aren't selling over there. Whereas in America, the Wii seems very healthy for 3rd parties, despite what many peopel say.

At the first few lines I smelt flame war fuel but as I read further I believe you made a few good points, I have to agree with you on this post.

It wasn't long ago that only nintendo prospered with the wii. Give 3rd parties some time to become in sync with the Japanese taste. Above all else, wait for MH3

Actually third parities have posted profits thanks to Wii software sales, however it is thanks to their shovelware efforts by and large
