Sounds about right. That meal is literally money, time, etc. down the drain.

Death penalty is a horrible tradition and should be made illegal. Killing a person ''by law'' isnt any different than just killing it. This isnt inquisition anymore, for Christ sake !!! IT ALSO VIOLATES INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS LAW.

I suggest you learn that a given action has 2 parts to it. A purpose and consequences, not just consequences. Looking at actions just based on consequence is very naive and ignorant. Then your whole "then it's the same" schtick falls to pieces.

I acknowledge both actions and consequences. Its just that killing someone as punishment for killing someone is pure hypocritical and don't even try to argue about that.

Do you plan on committing a murder? If not this doesnt effect you.

Unfortunately, the death penalty kills many people that didn't commit murder.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

People love to feel sorry for the prisoners but fail to remember their crimes. Why do people want to protect the criminals and spit on the victims? Look up  Willie Horton and tell me you still feel sorry for these people.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing when he said that.

not at all, but i have been all over the world and i've never been anywhere where the people are more self-centered and uncompassionate as in texas.  i don't know where their "fuck you" attitude comes from but just because the guy you're being a jackass to is a criminal doesn't make you any less of a jackass.

This is an interesting opinion, not because I'm trying to say you are wrong, as you are entitled to your own opinion, but only asking: you have personally travelled to Texas and found Texans to have a "Fuck You" attitude?

I ask because that is not generally the opinion on Texans.  Ride horses to work?  sure.  Independant?  agreed.  Criminal Killers - absolutely.  But, "fuck you"?  Not something I commonly hear about Texans.

Politcs and Religion are two of the worst things to argue about as people get very impassioned about both.  So I won't try to convince you the death penalty is right or wrong.  I will agree of course that Texas is tough on her criminals.  Being, well, not a criminal, I don't have a problem with that.

Now as far as being polite to criminals, we do disagree there.  When you break the law, you give up certain rights; it's the penalty you should pay for breaking the law.  That doesn't mean you can't eat or should be tortued, sure.  But should you be pampered?  I would disagree with you there.

Seriously? Even people who don't work on ranches?

I ride my horse into work all the time.  She's a palomino I call "Goldie".

Uh, not really, haven't ridden a horse since high-school!

What I find ironic is that part of the reason the last meal was rescinded was cost. States like Florida allow last meals, but it must be below a certain cost limit. Yet, most of these people have been on death row for over a decade, clogging up the system with repeal after repeal, costing taxpayers tens of thousands of $ a year to keep. The cost of a $30 last meal should be the least of the states worries.
