Yeah, I think the article is valid. Anyone who plays a game for so many hours everyday will obviously began to naturally associate things with gaming. I think the lifebar thing is bogus though. The interviewee was probably just trolling them when he said that.
With that being said, any prolonged experience with anything will cause the brain to grow accustom to those circumstances.

Ditto. The health bar thing was hilarious. The closest i ever get to this is intentionally pointing at a random object and blowing it up with a ki blast, Vegeta style.
@Seece, I daydream about everything.............in this order:
1. Anime
2. Games
3. Movies
4. Novels
5. Girls
And most of the time, it's more of reminiscing than imagining new stuff.

I've been trying to use Force powers for years. I know it won't happen but that doesn't mean I can't have fun with it, and that's from movies. Surely it's a form of day dreaming.
Although putting certain actions to real life situations might be done with comedic effect not having an ill effect on the person.
Yea I've been playing pokemon since I was so young that now when I see a pidgeon on the road, I can't help but think of them as Pidgey. Sometimes when my pet Cockateil is flapping its wings, I think its using gust attack and sometimes when its angry it uses peck attack.
No, its all bs. I know full well how to distinguish video game from reality. And all the people I know who have been gaming for a long time are the same. I swear every other day a news pops up claiming video games cause agression, muder, rape and now hallucinations. Don't the media have better things to cover?
To some degree there may be truth. I know when I get really into something, I begin to go about my self with that thing in mind. In high school when I played chess a lot, when I would do things I would think of it as a move and think "ok if I do this, this this will happen, but if I do this.." It's kind of hard to explain but my mind acted a little weird.
Then also when I'm deep into programming, I begin to act the same way. And I have woken up from sleeping to come up with a solution to a problem I was having.
I don't know about health bars, but when you become so accustomed to a certain way of thinking, I guess your mind tends to lean that way in other aspects of your life.
The closest to something like this happening with me was a random desire to do either a dragon punch or a fireball and one other time that was kinda funny.
After too much Splinter Cell, I was going to my job one day and suddenly noticed cameras in the parking garage and subconsciously found myself trying to avoid them and stick to the shadows. I laughed about it because it was more evident of how immersive SC was for me than me feeling like a real life Sam Fisher. Anyway, I shot out the cameras and knocked out a few security guards on my way to my desk just to be safe ...
I know after playing driving games for a while I get the urge to drive down the center of the road past cars.... hell, I even did it once when a car was going to turn and was like... woah, wtf, dangerous move... save that for the video games.
and wait... what? People dont have life bars above their heads?
