Forums - Sales - EMEAA UP-17th September

I'm amazed why the 3DS is doing so well after all the predicted doom, and the PS3 is slipping, despite a price cut AND lots of cool games coming out. Madness.

Wii is back to pre-cut levels, holiday can't come soon enough! Xenoblade still around 10k, expect 25-50% increase next week with re-stocking!

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Condescending much?

Despite your slighlty skewed view of the world I am sorry but it is simply undeniable that Kinect is massive and Move isnt....  if you disagree then fine... your wrong... but thats fine.

and your second statement is also just plain wrong....  What about the previous PS3 pricecut, that blows the move boost out of the water.

The previous PS3 pricecut was a $100 with a new model... a lot of people brought a new console model... this time is just a 50 pricecut.

For me the pricecut effect is good and it was moving a good amount of hardware.

well you did say "any price cut is weak compared to Move"

Any pricecut + new model > Move.

Move > Any pricecut alone.

Fine?

3DS still going on strong 5 weeks after the price cut. I guess price was really one of the major issues. Now hopefully Nintendo can deliver on it's promise giving us quality 1st and 3rd party software!

not really

The slim with no price cut would have beaten Move launch

and

$100 price cut alone would move more consoles than Move alone did

You don't have evidence of that ... just guess.

I think the $50 pricecut is good but not good to outsell a new peripheral or new model.

If PS3 hold the 150k+ weakly then the average sales of PS3 increased over 40% after the $50 price cut.

Can well admit that we need next-gen consoles now?
The big 3 are all down YOY aren't they?
PS3 price cut wearing down already.
Wii price cut wore off months ago.
Even if 360 had a price cut it would only boost it for a few weeks.

Gimme the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox 720 NOW!

No. The Wii U you can have next year. The PS4 and Xbox 720 are not needed. Triple A titles this holiday will prove this generation still has alot of time left in it. Gears 3 almost having 2 million in pre-oreders in the Americas alone shows this gen just needs to have big releases.

Sony should have waited til TGS to announce a PS3 price cut or should have placed a major triple A title to release alongside the price cut back in August. In 2009 Sony had Madden release alongside the price cut to $299. Followed shortly with the Move launch and Sports Champions. 2009 was excellently planned by Sony.

2011 is great but doesn't compare to how 2009 turned out.

For me even smaller titles go to alongside the price cut to $249 in addition to Deus Ex would have helped maintain the momentum of the cut. White Knight Chronicles II (in addition to publishing it) in NA and EU, Resistance 3 release and be bundled with the system at $249. Those games Sony could have manipulated to make the day the price cut happened.

Instead there wasn't much around it. Hell they could have expanded the Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits/The Best product lines with more games that would see those versions release the day the price cut happened. GT5 (Greatest Hit release) would have helped.

Honestly, I think we should have Gears 3 sales included here. If Gfk feel that it's worth tracking then we should too.
