VGKing said: Can well admit that we need next-gen consoles now? The big 3 are all down YOY aren't they? PS3 price cut wearing down already. Wii price cut wore off months ago. Even if 360 had a price cut it would only boost it for a few weeks. Gimme the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox 720 NOW! |
No. The Wii U you can have next year. The PS4 and Xbox 720 are not needed. Triple A titles this holiday will prove this generation still has alot of time left in it. Gears 3 almost having 2 million in pre-oreders in the Americas alone shows this gen just needs to have big releases.
Sony should have waited til TGS to announce a PS3 price cut or should have placed a major triple A title to release alongside the price cut back in August. In 2009 Sony had Madden release alongside the price cut to $299. Followed shortly with the Move launch and Sports Champions. 2009 was excellently planned by Sony.
2011 is great but doesn't compare to how 2009 turned out.
For me even smaller titles go to alongside the price cut to $249 in addition to Deus Ex would have helped maintain the momentum of the cut. White Knight Chronicles II (in addition to publishing it) in NA and EU, Resistance 3 release and be bundled with the system at $249. Those games Sony could have manipulated to make the day the price cut happened.
Instead there wasn't much around it. Hell they could have expanded the Greatest Hits/Platinum Hits/The Best product lines with more games that would see those versions release the day the price cut happened. GT5 (Greatest Hit release) would have helped.
