software numbers are dull, 1 million for PS3 and 360 in america and both below half a million in europe?

360 is already sooo cheap, i cant imagine a price cut having more than a modest boost, and to be fair i cant really see room for a price cut, maybe a price shift if they discontinue the 4gb and make the 250 the entry level model.

I think MS will be targeting great value bundles this Xmas, rather than cutting price on the base model

I don't get these narrow minded responses, gees people open your mind and think.

Especially when christmas comes around the Kinect will be viewed as a console in itself to casuals, they won't have a kinect, or a 360, so that's the what they're going to ask for when they cluelessly go into Gamestop 'can I have a 360 Kinect please?'

The cheapest kinect bundle is $299? in which case, yes, a kinect bundle marketed at mass market price WILL do well.

They also have plenty of room for a cut, Kinect is rumoured to only cost $46 to manufacture (that's obviously not including retailer cut, shipping ect) but they obviously make a hefty profit on it, whilst the 360 has been slimmed down in recent years, that offsets the added wifi ect. They havn't cut since 2008, if you're telling me Sony whose gaming division which is barely profitable in recent years can cut $150 in the last 2 years, but Microsoft who have been profitable since 2008 can't drop $50 in 3 years? do me a favour.

xbox could do with a pricecut over in europe and ps3 is undertacked in australia and new zealand and we all know why anyways, in australia xbox has been given a pricecut! u can get a 250gb xbox slim kinect with a controller gears 3 and kinect adventures and a controller for $398 it was $600, but over here it's ps3 country every one at schools mostly use the ps3 so this should help a bit

Condescending much?

Despite your slighlty skewed view of the world I am sorry but it is simply undeniable that Kinect is massive and Move isnt....  if you disagree then fine... your wrong... but thats fine.

and your second statement is also just plain wrong....  What about the previous PS3 pricecut, that blows the move boost out of the water.

The previous PS3 pricecut was a $100 with a new model... a lot of people brought a new console model... this time is just a 50 pricecut.

For me the pricecut effect is good and it was moving a good amount of hardware.

there hasnt been a 360 price cut yet....

so we shall have to wait and see.

And comparing the massive impact of Kinect with the relatively modest MOVE boost is a bit weak...

No point in deflecting... the PS3 price cut hasnt made a big impact.

Ohhh dear... never learn.

So Kinect is massive... Move not... sorry but any pricecut is weak compared to Kinect or Move.

No, Move in terms of moving hardware was/is very weak (doesn't resonate with the casuals at all) so a PS3 price cut should be more effective.

A price cut in conjunction with kinect in the holidays will provide a big boost, they need each other this holiday.

Sports Champions, that in America is bundled with PS Move, so our only way to very partially track Move, just re-entered America Top40, ranking 40th at 9.2k compared to WiiFit Plus (=Balance Board sales) at 11.1k and Kinect Adventure (=Kinect sales) at 15k. So yes, it's the weakest add-on, but not so far behind in ratio to console sales, that still has Balance Board first (and first WW too both in ratio and absolute sales). Anyway, at least in America, Kinect is stronger than Move, but we can't know elsewhere, although, thanks to K Adventures bundle being WW, we know that Kinect is very weak outside of English speaking countries. This is not to deny that Kinect helps XB360 in a considerable way, but its contribution, unless something changes, is not overwhelming WW. This said, a price cut + Kinect relaunch would surely be overwhelming in America, where XB360 is already 1st weekly and slowly closing the lifetime gap from Wii.

I was actually just refering to the console, as kinect is not one, even to the casuals there not idiots you know, but as i said i expect some great bundle deals, including those where kinect is in the bundle.

I also would expect price cuts on kinect, just not on the standalone console, but way to overreact. :)

Also to your last bit this is the EMEAA thread not the US one, in the UK its easy to pick up a 250gb 360 for £149, seen offers at this price all through the summer, and i just cant see them getting the price lower than that without sku shifting and discontinuing the 4GB and making 250 the new entry model, although if shops started selling the 4gb at £99 they would not be able to keep them on the shelves.

To casuals Kinect/360 is the console they're looking for when they go into stores.

Like I said, come christmas it'll be the Kinect bundle that will be selling the most, and that has room for movement. Even if you're talking standalone consoles, Nintendo have got theirs down to £89 now? those Gamecube portless wii's, and £129 with a game.

You seem to think Nintendo and Sony are capable of price cuts (both having cut twice since MS last cut, but MS can't, despite making more profit last year in their gaming division than both Nintendo and Sony. What exactly is your reasoning?

I guess my reasoning is just based on UK pricing which i cant see getting lower, ok 360 has only had 1 official price cut in the last 2 years like you say, but thats not stopped it getting cheaper and cheaper at retail since then, and the tech has got better in that time, it now has wireless built in and more ports. I guess an official price cut could come reducing the 250gb rrp from £205 to £150 but that would probably only translate to £10-20 cheaper, but the ad campaign they could run with a new rrp would really drive sales.

Gears of War = No sales? It started selling last Friday over here..

Then they broke the street date. It went on sale today WW.

We've had sales from broken street dates here in the past. IIRC Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's first week is from broken street dates.
