Note - I haven't actually watched Game of Thrones, but if it is anything like the book series - terrible terrible trashy fantasy with no charm (unlike, say, Robert E. Howard, which is trashy, but certainly with its charm). It is very similar to other fantasy type books like Twilight: populated with characters who the fans think are deep and complex because very unrealistic amounts of tragedy is always happening to them. Although in reality they're rather simple: the villains are all engage in pedophilia/rape/incest and the good characters are all naive. The story is also slow paced and there is not one book that can be set alone and said "this is good", people base the story as being good on books that aren't even released yet; people only think it is good because they are drawn to the trashy scenes that occur every couple of chapters between below average narrative for the fantasy genre.
This series, along with Twilight, Sword of Truth, and Wheel of Time, will not be talked about anymore after they are all complete; except as a comparative note (hardly anyone talks about Sword of Truth or Wheel of Time even now). I read up to the part in the Game of Thrones series where the author was describing an erect dwarf penis before he was about to rape an 11 year old kid in the second or third book. I have a pretty high tolerance for disgustingness, but this was just pure garbage. Although I only read that far because I had bought the three books on the basis of several very misleading reviews. I am not actually sure how pedophilia is legal, but apparently in bad contemporary fantasy it is acceptable.
