Forums - Sony - DC Universe Online Going Free to Play

Well this changes everything.

Cool.

It was a fun game, though questing was a pain in the ass because max level ass-hats would camp the low to mid level zones. Especially for free, I'd love to come back if they gave those max level people something to do so I could actually play again (and PvE isn't an option).

One of the replies to a post on the Playstation Blog posting of the announcement said they are not going to be making any more physical copies of the game (you can still use your disc, though, if you have one). Also, for those who like trophies, you will need to be a subscriber to obtain new ones (any old ones you keep), so playing it for free will get you nothing.

That's dirty, forget that crap..

Thats good news.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

So it's like f2p, but you can p2p for extra features? If yes then that's kind of meh.

Awesome. Definitely joining. Will probably spend 5 dollars in there at some point, as well. As for the no trophies thing? Pffft. Seriously, trophies aren't everything. It's a free game.

haha, reminds of the WoW episode of Southpark XD

I don't do MMOs but that just sounds frustrating.

It's not like it's a new thing. Free Realms, the other free MMO, requires you to pay for a subscription in order to get trophies for it.

Yep.  Though, I think they should at least have it were you can get Bronze (and maybe even Silver) trophies, but make you pay a subscription to get the Gold and Plantinum trophies.

Well, the reason given in the responses in the Blog post was that Sony has a policy about there being trophies given out with free games, hence why you need subscriptions for Free Realms and now DC Universe in order to get them.
