I would say the Vita, although the expensive memory cards are a huge con for me. Hopefully Sony decides to sell some bundles, so the prices become less outrageous.

The price of Vita itself, everywhere outside North America, is pretty outrageous. It costs £230 ($363) to the 3DS' £140 ($221), where in America, it is $250 to $170.

Some markup is normal, due to import prices and higher sales taxes, so the 3DS' price is fine, but charging damn near an extra 50% is not okay. I hope that Sony realises that soon.

Yeah, it is pretty expensive in the UK. Still, the 3DS launched at £230 as well, and that came down in price fairly fast if I recall correctly.

The outrageous prices I was reffering to were those of the memory cards though. I want to buy games from the PS Store, so needing to buy some super expensive memory card isn't really ideal. :/

VITA - because it's basically an Ipad at half the cost and able to play much better games.

^^THIS!!!

What you said is absolute gold!

So far it's the 3DS for me. Haven't seen anything that really grabs my attention on the Vita, other than Persona 4 Golden.

I'll be getting the Vita in due time, but with Mario Land 3D, Mario Kart 7, Paper Mario, Dragon Quest Monster Remake, Mario Tennis 3D, Fatal Frame 3D, MH3 3D and KH 3D, my handheld needs are satisfied for the moment.

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

I really don't care that much, but I'd bet anyone that the 3DS will outsell the Vita. Both will have some decent software though.

Personally I would buy the 3DS if I had to choose being a Nintendo fan.

Ive been so disappinted by the 3DS I think I will trade it in for the vita.

What about street pass and 'Near' features. think those are worth a mention.

On a side note: I wonder how the vita battery extension would attach without obstructing the rear panel

I chose 3DS as i think 3DS will, in overall, be a better console for gaming.
Although i think the 3D effect isn`t what it could be (like Wiiremote lack of 1:1) i think technology will improve and Nintendo will update 3DS (like motion plus) and provide a better experience for games.
Having the 3D effect really adds something to the game. So far, from the games i played or demoed, Zelda oot was the only one that really used 3D in the best way and it was great to play the game with that. i believe that with time and practice both Nintendo and 3rd parties will provide a better, more efficient experience.
And that`s something Vita won`t have to add to the game.

In terms of games, if Nintendo does for North America and Europe, what it did this week for Japan, we are in for a ride of great games.
Vita might get the upperhand here but i don`t think it will be significantly mainy because of first party games that will soften that blow. Honestly i think Nintendo will put more effort in original content for 3DS it terms of core gaming than it did with DS. 3DS is getting a Smash title, isn`t it?

Having GBA and probably GBC games, along with DSi and 3DSi software will really help 3DS.

I think that even if 3DS won`t be as successful as DS was, it has a chance of being a great console with great games, where this time casual and hardcore gamers will be equally satisfied.

I think I have to do a little more research on the StreetPass and Near systems before adding them to the OP.

I'm thinking the battery extension will possibly be like a USB-type attachment that will just stick out the side of the system, or to the port that the AC adapter connects to when charging the Vita normally.

So far, Vita easily wins for me.
