Forums - Nintendo - This Skyward Sword footage has 100% ERASED all my fears and doubts about the game!!

To be honest, I didn't understand many peoples criticism of the game to begin with. For about two years after the game was revealed, we knew literally nothing about it other than its existence, yet that didn't stop people making assumptions about what it would be and deciding that it wasn't for them.

Now, we know a little more, and if people don't like what they hear, then that's fine, because they've actually got something that they can base that on.

On the Link should have a voice argument, I want to know who should be the voice actor, because I have my doubts that they could ever find someone to do it justice after all this time.

All I've seen so far, bloody hell awesome game!!! That's all I can say.

The first time I saw Beedle, I was like "I've seen that character somewhere before"! until Cheebee mentioned it. :D

I agree, it would have to be done right, but I think it's high time for some voice acting in Zelda. Not sure about Link, I think it might sound odd if he alone is silent... (although Link doesn't say much in  text either, perhaps Link could be promoted to being like the NPCs currently are, ie being able to answer yes/no/ok with grunts and body language).

I don't quite understand how you can't care for characters just because you have to read what they say though. I like a lot of them despite lack of speech.

Agree with everything in this post. word for word

So do I.

I do think that HD Zelda should (and probably will) have voice acting for most of the characters, but hopefully NOT Link.

In Wink Waker, Link yells, "Come on!" when you're guiding that statue around, and that I don't mind.  But giving Link full dialogue is a bad idea, IMHO.  I think it's far more advantageous to have him just nod or shake his head when asked a question or use body language as a response.  That can really give a character, character... without actually speaking.  Remember, Zelda is not meant to be Uncharted.

And not all games that rely on a great story have to have the protagonist constantly talking to be relatable; look at the first Bioshock.  Except for a couple of short lines in the intro, I don't think your character says anything in the entire game...
