This Thread may cause some controversy, But i am willing to take this risk. :D

Anyways this is just an hypothetical question. If Microsoft were to release an Xbox Portable, Lets just say June 2012 (An surprise announcement on their E3). Could it successfully compete agianst the 3DS and PS-VITA??

Do yall think it would be a good investment for Microsoft to start making their own portable device right now. And do yall think it could atleast sell well enough for them to make a decent profit.

I know the chances of this ever happening are Extremly slim, But i would be very interested to see how Microsoft would handle a portable gaming device and to see how well it would do...

What do yall think

I don't see it.

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

There's no room for a 3rd portable. If MS were to release one it would probably target the same demographic as the Vita and it'll be PS3/360 all over again. There's no need for another portable.

No...the only way it would be even slightly competitive is if it had COD and Halo that worked online like the consoles do.

1st party software for both a home and portable software may be a problem, imo.

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

no way

and anyways they don't need it as their main aim is to unsettle sony in the home entertainment buisiness

5 years from now, launching a dedicated gaming handheld will either be a niche product or commercial suicide. Its pretty obvious that tablets and smartphones will take over as portable gaming and multimedia platforms of choice few short years time. So no, even MS isn't that stupid as it will take them more than 5 years to get viable marketshare with a dedicated gaming handheld.

Not to mention that MS doesn't make hardware. If they can convince HTC to make a portable xbox as a phone with access to xbox live arcade or something, that makes more business sense for everyone involved.

It would do about as well as the 360 does in Japan. So that's a big N to the O from me.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Probably not.

Need something off Play-Asia? http://www.play-asia.com/

The only place I think dedicated gaming handhelds won't see a significant decline is in Japan and that's the Xbox brand's weakest area so it wouldn't be worth it for Microsoft to release a handheld.
