Microsoft has touted how Gears of War 3 has the most pre-orders for the Xbox 360 and apparently they were fibbing. The Limited Edition for the Epic Games shooter has sold out on Amazon.

The Gears of War 3 Limited Edition is normally $79.99 and comes with an Octus Service Medal, Adam Fenix multiplayer character and Fenix Family Mementos & Fabric COG Flag.

A big reason for the Limited Edition selling out is the $20 gaming coupon that Amazon included with pre-orders, easily besting most of the pre-order deals currently available. 

The standard edition of Gears of War 3 gets the $20 gaming coupon as well which has helped propel it to the top of Amazon's best seller list for video games.

Yea I ordered my copy online at amazon and to get the 20 gift card which ill use for shadow of the colossus so ill only pay 20.

Yeah we've been sold out in store at Gamestop for about a month now on the Epic edition and have been on the middle tier version for about 3 months. Not sure about the online store though haven't checked.

This game is gonna be a megaton in sales. Did anyone else that Pachter predicted it'll sell over 10 million units?

I doubt we really know what their target is, if they've mentioned 10 million though I imagin that's a real target for them. Just because the previous games did 6 mill doesn't mean it's their target, this is clearly going to be bigger than the first 2.

Even if a new gen came out tomorrow it wouldn't hamper the current gen for atleast another 2 years.

About the target sales... I don't know what their internal target is but the measure of success for most franchises is to at the very least match previous sales. Most companies set their expectations and budgets around that number so as long as gears 3 sells 6 mill it would be a success.
