does nintendo have a stake in this game or does the fact that it's being ported up to the wiiU mean that ps360 ports are also not out of the question?

Don't think so, it's Nintendo who will publish it if I remember correctly.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

They took away what made the DQ franchise one of my favorite and crushed it and spilled it with Square-Enix's juice of failure. I am ever so disappointed.

Dragon Quest theme is on repeat in my head until more news is released. Sweet madness it is. *hums theme*

Things that need to die in 2016: Defeatist attitudes of Nintendo fans

I wonder if they'll have separate releases to force me to buy the game twice.
As long as there's metal slimes and ways to destroy them, though, I don't actually care about anything else, :D.
Bring it on! (well, okay, in mid-2013 in all likelihood)

So they're releasing this on the Wii and the Wii U? That's good. I wonder how much of an improvement the graphics will have?

It says 2012 release in the info OP posted.

I hope there is still a deep single player experience with an interesting story worth playing on your own, and not just an MMO with bots when playing by yourself - those always feel so hollow in comparison to actual single player campaigns...

This is how the story goes: The main character is introduced as an average boy/girl, but over time it becomes clear that he/she is actually the lost son/daughter of some kingdom.

If you thought Mario saving Peach is unoriginal, then brace yourself for the Dragon Quest experience.

huh... I see. So what is it about Dragon Quest that gives it such a highly regarded reputation?

Is it flawless execution of essentially tried and true, basic gameplay elements? 'cause that would be fine too.

Being the first JRPG with the first big world while having an great soundtrack and created by the art of the then very very popular Akira Toriyama;..

After the first one people kept buying them, possible because of nostalgia and knowing what to expect....bit like FF...People may hate them so much and being unhappy that it goes to a handheld or console they don't like...They will buy it.

Looks like ill be getting wii u version. launch game?

Looks good and fun, but im dissapointed they are going that way with this serie. I miss DQ8 and prior. Am I the only one to feel this way?
