Forums - Nintendo - Smash brothers 1 vs 1?

would Smash brothers have been as good as a 1 on 1 fighter

Do you think super smash bros would have been just as popular if it's fighting system was based around 1 on 1 fights instead of 4 player fights? I have always wanted a nintendo fighter that was more like street fighter with more combos and super moves and specials and the like. Sure you can just play 1 on 1 in SSB but its not the same as a normal fighter with that percent counter on the bottom.

just play TvC. As far as I know it was codeveloped with Nintendo.

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

Is that a serious question?

Melee was considered a fairly competitive game worldwide, with plenty of competitions and a lot of prize money, until Nintendo came and took a dump on the competitive community with Brawl (broken Metaknight, Tripping, Slower game, no hitstun which means no combos).

Smashboards is pretty big, and way bigger than VGC anyway.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

You clearly have no idea how big the competitive sbb scene is. Its one of the most popular competitive fighters in the world. That includes for both 1v1's and 2v2's

i have to say its a simple yes. these characters have been fighting for yrs so why not put them in a space with more different abilities and let them brawl it out.

they could do everything better in a Tekken type world

Of course not. Smash Bros is not really smash bros if its not played with four players, all items on very high.

But i believe i've made my low opinion of competitive smash bros apparent around here before

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Nope, not at all. Some of my best memories with SSB are 4-5hours sittings playing people from VGChartz in 4 player free-for-all or team battle. You'd have guys joining in, others leaving but the fighting was always interesting.

One on one is fun too but it lacks the craziness of 4 players battles.
